Has anyone been on sertraline ? Has it helped your depression? Any side affects that I should know of ? My psychiatrist has suggested these for me so hopefully they will work?

Hi

I am taking it right now. Lowest dose. I have been on it before though in the highest dose. I think it’s hard to say it’s different for everyone. Probably depends on dosage what other medications you’re taking what your medical issues are etc. etc. I do hope it works for you though. 🤗

The psychiatrist said I had depression die to me being ill they also said it could be gluten psychosis but it’s very rare I think they were going to try 100mg I have coeliac disease and take omeprazole, vitamin d, folic acid and metformin.

Allow about five weeks before you concern yourself. These medications take time to work

Thanks seems along time to work do you feel any different after takin these

I have been on a similar medication now for over twenty years and the drug does work.

However it is a good idea to give the drug time to work. If you keep asking to change medications eventually you may miss the drug that is good for you. Given that it is always a good idea to stick with a drug in the first instance. You will need to be patient and possibly suffer some side affects. until you get used to the medication

Thanks for that the doctors gave me olanzapine first and I was on it for 7 months unfortunately I got one of the rare side affects and got drug induced Diabetes unfortunately we didn’t find out till after I was put on insulin

Nasty how are you now.

I was diagnosed Diabetes 2 a couple of months ago, in my case it is down to old age. Trying to keep of those medications for the time being

If you find a drug that works stick to it, It is the best way

Well I’m ok , I have been taken off insulin as I stopped the olanzapine, the doctor said it can cause diabetes so he gave me glicazide instead of the insulin bit this made my blood sugars too low so I stopped that and now only take metformin now, the psychiatrist is putting me on sertraline so we shall see how it goes

Never had depression but it has helped with anxiety. As far as side affects only the first

couple of weeks then can't even till you are on it.

Worth trying for anxiety anyway
