I’ve just started taking sertraline again 25mg and my legs and arms are tingling, weak and at times feel numb. Anyone else experience this ?

When I first took sertraline, I started getting unstoppable shaking. I decided to just continue taking it and it eventually went away. I think the body has to get used to the medicine. If your body does not handle it well, I suggest talking to the psychiatrist.

The first days it is normal to feel a bit odd. Also I found that the second time I started Sertraline the symptoms were different from the first time.

I take one 50mg plus 1/4. I always go with 1/4 increments, I find it much smoother. If you are like me and 25mg is too much of a jump, you could try to half it for a few days. I use a pill cutter. It makes my doctor laugh, by the way, but it works for me.

Talk to your doctor. When I restarted Sertraline after a few months break it was taking forever to start working again. Luckily I can take Propranolol. It's a beta blocker and it stops the symptoms of the cortisol rushes. I took it for a couple of months, now I'm doing ok. Not everyone can take beta blockers, but worth discussing it with your GP.

It takes a week or two and even up to 6 weeks for sertraline to take affect and make a noticeable difference so you need to give it time. Keep in mind that we all react differently to meds. If you are already somewhat anxious it's likely that the sensations you are experiencing are normal and your anxious mind is blowing them up out of proportion because you are so hyper-focused on them. Try to calm yourself down some and allow the med time to work. The only side affect I had on sertraline was mild sexual dysfunction which is common.

I no longer am on it but I started off low and built up to 200mg/day.

Hi I've just seen your post. I have started taking Sertraline a week ago after being on Citalopram which didn't help.I suffer from chronic anxiety from the moment I wake up until I go to sleep at night.

My anxiety caused so many physical symptoms including heavy arms that tingle, heart palpitations, nause , the list goes on. When I start getting a real panic attack my arms go numb,it's a horrible feeling. Apparently taking a new antidepressant can make anxiety worse for a while so it's a battle to know if the tablets work or not. I'm going to hang in there a few more weeks to see if they help. Hopefully when you get Sertraline in your system for a few weeks then the physical symptoms will ease. Wishing you all the best.

Im starting on 25mg because I'm too nervous to start at a higher dose yet. I have general and health anxiety so always a problem for me if I try new things. I've only been on it 10 days so I shall give it a few weeks before I up my dose.
