Any suggestions?

What do I do about hearing all of these background sounds? Should I just accept that I'm hearing them? They are sounds that everyone can hear, so, I'm not hearing voices or noises in my head. These are common sounds like cars going by, or water coming out of a sink. The mundane sounds that people usually ignore. Any suggestions?

Often called mindful meditation, please look up on youtube (just google) or search on internet

Also being in the now moment

which people really try to achieve because takes them away from past or future worries.

But I see it is causing you distress, but it is clear thinking and focus in present moment.

Just try to clear your mind of thoughts or let the thoughts just pass and you have achieved meditation moment

Yeah, basically, just accept that they are there, move on with your day. Sounds are going to be around you. You can buy things to help lessen the sounds if you feel overwhelmed like sensory overload. Loopz makes good earplugs for that. They drown out the noise but they just turn the volume down.

However I'm sure you therapist probably told you something like to not avoid it and just embrace and accept it. Not to become obsessed with the sounds. Be like other people when they hear it and don't do anything. Don't listen more intently. Just be present in the moment and continue with your day. You can do it!

So, except that I hear these sounds and keep concentrating on what I need I want or need to focus on?

Pretty much. Like right now I hear truck driving through my neighborhood. I heard a car door slammed. But it doesn't worry me. Nor am I so focus on it that I can't reply to your post.

Sounds are Just going to be around whether it's people talking outside, cars zipping by , trains etc.

As long as you don't zero in on it to the point that you are ignoring the person who's sitting across from you that's talking to you. Just accept that it's there and focus on what you need to focus on like work, friends, family etc.

Well, that sentence didn't come out correctly, did it? haha, Yeah, it's hard for me to concentrate on what others are saying sometimes because I'm so caught up focusing on the external sounds that I hear. Like car doors slamming or people talking.
