Any Suggestions?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has good techniques or things that they do to work through anxiety or anxiety attacks? I have personally found that journaling, listening to music, or a simple nap can sometimes help! Any good suggestions?

Drink water and concentrate on breathing for a while. Anxiety can cause dehydration.

Pray. Sing. Praise God.

Remember how Precious & Loved you are. Give thanks for the good things.

You've listed some great ones. Exercise is a good one. I like meditation and yoga.

Sometimes just getting myself into the fresh air will help. I don't have to do anything just stand there and breath.

I see that Mary wrote you have a new cat. Snuggle or play with that fur ball. Pets are great for reducing anxiety. 🐾🐾

Everyone’s different but some things that help me are counting backwards from 100-1 (you have to make a bit of an effort to not mess up so it distracts you), also breathing exercises, reminding yourself that it’s temporary and simply letting go, letting it happen, letting it out

Yes I do the same, naps, listen to music, journals. I addition to that I follow my stress reliever which is to watch movies and read novels. Just to past time and for my mind to think of something else. :)

Hello Soroitygirl,

I also suffer from some anxiety attacks and the occasional panic attack, so here's what I do while I'm in the middle of one.

1. I try to find a point on the wall (or somewhere else) to steady myself. It's kind of like looking at land while you're at sea to prevent becoming seasick.

2. Try to force yourself to think logically. Even though your brain is going into panic mode, try to acknowledge that you are having an attack and then work from there. Don't let yourself get completely swept away. (I realize that this one doesn't always work. During a major attack, it would be useless, but try nevertheless)

3. If necessary, get yourself out of your surroundings to calm yourself. Whenever I have an attack around other people, I have an overwhelming urge to run away from that situation. Don't run away, it makes you look suspicious, walk away. Go to the bathroom or outside or in a closet and wait it out. Every attack ends at some point.

I hope these help you! Good luck.

(These are only what I do when I'm stuck in the middle of one, just to clarify)
