I just left my mentally abusive husband two days ago. I have left him before, but always went back. This time I can't. My health is deteriorating due to the stress. I am really depressed and scared about starting over again. I was married for almost 22 years and I guess you would say that I became dependent on him. I just need to find ways to keep myself busy and find good support groups.

Scared about starting over.
I think you did a good and brave thing for yourself, and in life you truly sometimes have to be selfish. It may be good to search for therapy to get some help in this period, to make it easier, but take everything slow. You got this.
Your story is the same as mine. I'm having extremely bad anxiety. To the point I went to emergency room. I'm hear to listen.

That is great that you took that step. I agree that therapy will be helpful. Good luck. Thinking of you.
This is the support group that I used to leave my husband of 30 years. There are so many people on this site that can help you cope.
My divorce was final last week. I still have residual trauma that I have to get over and I have to be patient with myself.
The things that I have done over the last year are incredible. I’ve traveled across the country by myself, gotten my own apartment for the first time, etc. I used to cry when my husband would go away for a weekend…I was so scared that I would go crying back once I left, but I didn’t.
You got this!!!
Kudos to you for taking the first big step to freedom and a healthier you! I'm sure it wasn't easy. You deserve a better life without fear. We are all here to support each other. Do you have a therapist or counselor? You can also get support through NAMI and LiveWellFoundation. They both have support groups. You can also check with your county to see what support is available. Hope everything turns out well for you! Keep us posted.
