Hi Hope61

I'm sorry you are not doing well. It does take the medications a bit of time to work.

You are not getting any relief from the klonopin?

It does feel like forever. It's hard to keep pushing through days when you are not feeling well.

I know those feelings.

So many of us here understand how you feel

A week is early on and that is the answer most of us get. So the big question is how do you get through this week?

It's not easy but you will get through it. If you feel worse you call again.

You are in my thoughts

Why is anxiety worse in the morning

Morning anxiety has a biological cause: Cortisol, often called the “stress hormone,” is higher during the first hour after waking for people experiencing stress. Sometimes people feel a measure of control when they worry, so they have trouble stopping the cycle.

Interesting. Thank you. My anxiety , Which after 27 years, dissipated greatly last year after discovering I was undermedicated, has not been based on worrying so much. Whatever type it was horrible.

what??? Change my message??

did you question the dr why they’re prescribing you benzodiazepines? I don’t understand at all given your symptoms. especially if you say clonopin isn’t working, it won’t work for depression unless you take a ton of it daily, which prescribers just don’t just prescribe. Like 4-6 mg of clonopin.

benzodiazepines are depressant tranquilizers and compound depression. in other words, they will depress you. when taken as prescribed for anxiety issues, they work about instantaneously.

again, puzzled why you’re taking benzodiazepines, not surprised you do not notice any effect they have treating depression. call your doctor asap. you’ll be dependent on them in less than another week. you’ll need a benzodiazepine taper schedule to get rid of the withdrawal side effects of not taking them which have the pains of anxiety x100. But it’s not anxiety it’s benzo withdrawal. it takes 2 weeks to become addicted to them.

I just started taking. A week ago for anxiety. I wasn’t taking for depression. When the anxiety lifted that’s when I feel the depression. I go back next week

Sorry, I didn’t see anything about anxiety mentioned in your post or replies, my mistake for assuming that your benzo switch and not working were due to your depression.

SO SICK of these knee-jerk reactions that anybody on a benzo has to get off, without looking at the individual.. They are the ONLY drugs that helps with anxiety, which usually accompanies depression. I have been on a high dose of Ativan and different anti-depressants for 12 years, and I always tell my doctor the Ativan absolutely helps and the anti-depressants I am never quite sure of. If people like you are trying to create a media-fueled and totally irrational panic about benzos like happened with opioids, where people with cancer, etc., who desperately need them cannot get them and become suicidal because of the pain, leave me out of it.

That wasn’t my intention at all, the poster only mentioned depression so I wrote what I did based off of the impression I got which was the benzos were treating depression.

yhsbirny profile image
yhsbirny in reply to litethatnevergoesout

Many times it is hard to distinguish between depression and anxiety which is why a knowkedgable doctor will usually treat both at the same time.

I’m on board with you regarding the sentiments and demonizing benzos. I respect your opinion. Benzodiazepine is being nudged down the narcotic path. People that need a stronger medicine for the pain they’re in aren’t getting it.

Agreed but I like starting with one just in case something dosent agree with you you can figure out which one it was. Believe I had a nightmare happen when I was out on two meds at the same time

oh that’s ok. Yes she put me on 10 mg lepto which I have been on for a week. The Klonipan is to replace the Xanax a primary doctor put me on for anxiety when everything first happened in December

With the losses. Maybe that makes more sense

klonopin helped me over a major mood swing. am hoping to get back on alprazolam soon as a quick fix, I am going to take a gene test to see if that will help get me on something on a daily basis, so far i have tried so many pills with so many side effects they left me worse than i started. good luck to the both of us. will keep you up to date

Hope61 profile image
Hope61 in reply to barlock

barlock profile image
barlock in reply to Hope61

i am in minnesota. just asked my dr. they will send the test to your home and you fill out the information when you send it back they will let you know if your insurance will cover it our if you have to pay. the cost is around 300 dollars

I meant I’m in ny

yhsbirny profile image
yhsbirny in reply to Hope61

It is a DNA mouth swab test from a company called GeneSight (Google them). A doctor has to order it and administer it, and it is done in their office. I had one done several years ago and it showeed my metabolism was not compatible with SSRIs, which I had been taking for years with few results. Switched to Cymbalta, an SNRI recommended by the test, and it was a world of difference.
