Anyone experienced horrible insomnia as a side effect of Buspar?

I’m taking 7.5 mg 3x a day along with 10 mg of Lexapro which I take in the morning. Ive taken Lexapro before without it effecting my sleep drastically. I am desperate to figure out why I am waking up anywhere from 2-4 am and tossing and turning. It has been happening for one month which coincides with when I started the medications. My doctor prescribed Ambien which helps me fall asleep but not stay asleep. Ive got to figure this out because it is miserable. Wondering what others may have experienced related to this with Buspar specifically? Thanks

My doctor wanted me to go up to 30mg of buspar 2x daily. Once I got there, I had terrible restlessness at night and couldn't sleep. I was taking it at 6pm even and it affected my sleep later on. I could only go as high as 22.5mg twice daily without it affecting my sleep. I've since come down to 7.5mg twice daily. Sounds like it's definitely the buspar.

I have taken Buspar for anxiety for about 20 years now and saw the same thing that you are seeing. Buspar works well for me, but it starts to wear off for me after about 4 hours. I take 5mg every 4 hours and that seems to be ideal.

I take 5mg of Buspar right before I go to bed at 10pm and I wake up around 2am. I think the reason is that the Buspar is beginning to wear out (not completely, but becoming less effective) and my anxiety begins to return, and it wakes me up.
