Prozac

I really dont know if i should even try prozac at this point, ive tried lexapro and zoloft already and reacted badly so got off. Prozac is the same class but my doc suggested it since ive yet to try it. Im not sure if i will. Any suggestions?

What type of symptoms did you have with the other two.

Body shakes, extreme dream like feelings, panic attacks worse and worse anxiety, head pain, sleep issues

I’m on Prozac now and it’s working fine. I couldn’t handle the Lexapro and don’t have any experience with Zoloft. But everyone’s different and for me it was a crapshoot until we found the correct meds and dosages. I felt like a guinea pig. But am glad I kept trying. Good luck.

I know how you feel, I have tried many with unpleasant side effects and you start to feel afraid about trying new ones. However. If you don't try it you would always wonder if it was the right one for you. So I would give it a go. Make sure you start on a low dose. Good luck!

My daughter could not take Prozac but was fine on Zoloft, so I don't think that would be a problem.

Yes, shes the one that prescribed this. I still need to have a psycological exam though. Honestly, ive improved a bit but still get weird feelings when i go out or am around alot of people or have to sit with someone or someweere new

How long have you been on klonopin? Is your doc ok with you being on a benzo long term?

She just wants more stability before we start the taper process.

I take Effexor. Believe it's also in the same class but not sure. Tried several other meds before that. You could always try Prozac. Often drugs in the same class react differently in your system. Good luck...finding the right meds and the right dosage is never easy.

Effexor is an snri, prozac is ssri. But yeah im hoping something like this will help. I take ativan too.

I am in the same boat. I am going to the psych this week. Prozac is the only drug that I have yet to try. The only thing that calms my ptsd, Ocd, anxiety and depression is klonopin...but can’t keep taking that. Next step for me may be an anti psychotic....have you tried any of those? I am scared to death but may have to give them a go. How long have you been suffering?

I’ve tried most if not all of the SSRI’s, make me so sleepy, sleep 14-20 hours a day even at lowest dosage, unable to orgasm, lethargic and unable to function, Effexor long and short term, felt yucky with headaches and unable to have orgasms, plus watch for abruptly stopping Effexor, known for the withdrawals which can make you sick for weeks or months-read the reviews of how sick it makes people feel. Serzone I loved but it spiked my blood pressure too much. Going back on Wellbutrin which causes some scary visual hallucinations at night but my mood is much better, functioning is better and best success. I’ve taken mood stabilizers and very happy with Lamictal but still need an antidepressant hence the Wellbutrin. I hope my anxiety is manageable without meds as I’ve been on a slew of those with bad side effects. Some of the medications for hypertension help with anxiety and panic attacks which may work for you. If your blood pressure needs a little help that might be an option for you in you need help for an anxiety disorder and you can take low doses. Just some ideas...
