Can anyone give some advice on Setraline as an antidepressant?
I’m currently on Mirtazapine, but seems to have lost it effectiveness & Dr wanting me to try Setraline, but I hate the idea of starting new meds & wondering what side effects they will give me.
Any help/encouragement would be appreciated 🫤

Thanks for replying, I'm just so unsure about changing & there r so many antidepressants out there I know its trial & error till u get one that suits u. Have u been on any others before setraline??
mirtazapine is a much more sedating antidepressant than sertraline. There might be a bit of an adjustment since sertraline can be activating in some people.
I am coming off venlafaxine and starting sertraline . My big problem at the minute is anxiety. This is my last week hopefully with venlafaxine and start 25 mg sertraline with a back up of diazapam for a week , then increase to 50 mg.
Will post again and let you know how that goes.
I have posted that due to anxiety I have had to cancel all social outings and coffee meet ups. Limiting myself to grocery shopping a trip to the library and sorting out my home that is very untidy due to me neglecting housework. I already feel relieved knowing I have no pressure .
As has been said, changing meds is always anxiety provoking. I assume your doctor has tried increasing or decreasing the dosage of the mirtazapine. It's sad but sometimes the meds just stop working. And like it or not, it's on to the next one. I've never tried Sertraline so I can't comment but I hope it works well for you!
Thanks all for ur informative comments I appreciate them. But had a private consultation today & GP decided to reduce my Mirtazapine & put me onto Amitriptylene (which by the way I was on many years ago) so I’m feeling happier with this outcome & hopefully it will help me get my life back on track, I will post & let u know how things go. Wishing u all well on ur journey & this is a fab site to get encouragement & support from like minded people 😉
I have been on Sertraline 200 mg per day plus quetiapine! They work but took 2-3 months before the side effects stopped. Over the years I have been on several different antidepressants but must say this is the best. I was prescribed this high dose by Consultant Psychiatrist not by a G.P. As they are far more qualified to know what combination is best suited to the patient .
