I wouldn't say it is a social media addiction so much as a communication device and a gaming machine. I use it to contact a lot of my friends and keep them posted....i use it a lot to do things like coloring apps and journaling apps to help when i don't actually have a lot of time to journal. The struggle for me is that it is time i could be spending doing other things....like actual artwork....exercise and the like

Thats so amazing 😀😍

I'd say find something that you can replace social media with which is a task that focuses on you and not the world. So like a hobby. Maybe that's gardening, drawing, going for walks, learning an instrument, etc.

Not only are you condensing the world down to your local space but you are also getting benefit from improving skills by working on something that has value to you. It's not so much of an escape from reality that when you finish on social media you are back in the same place. Instead even if you finish a task like a hobby you have learnt something new that you can remember and your life may have improved in some ways or the environment around you has changed. You remain in reality and distract yourself from the negatives.

Social media can make negatives overwhelming for sure. It's consumed by negative posts, people and ideologies. It's not all bad of course but a large proportion is and so letting go of that will be greatly beneficial I believe. I can say from experience that it has made my life better and brighter mostly.
