Does social media like Facebook cause you to have worsen anxiety and depression?
I have deleted it in the past due to this and it helped I’m curious if others have experienced this as well?

10000000000000% Yes! I deleted ALL social media in 2017, i do not use it what so ever. Makes my depression worse by far.
BEST thing I have ever done and I do not miss it for a second
I was just recently thinking of not going on social media anymore myself
I came off Facebook. I had a nasty relative who was narcissistic she was putting me down and getting people to put things on about me. I went back on for a short time. It just made me depressed again. Even though I blocked some of the nasty people.
I have found FB helpful. Before it was helpful I had to delete friend and sites that had to do with politics. I added sites that deal with motivation and spirituality. I have started chatting with some members of those groups. Bottom line once I filtered out my triggers FB become helpful to me
I left FB because of the haters. Just do what is helpful for yourself. Don't read comments, just look at what makes you happy. When feeling low I talk to G-d and it helps. You can call it your Higher Power if it's better.
Hello @Summer95 I hope you are fine today,
Not anymore now but, about 2 or 3 years ago, yes, I was a bit "anxious" or "nervous" about those social networks, thinking "was what I wrote appreciated ? Did I say it as I should ? What will other think about me ?".
It does not anymore, probably because today everyone's on those medias and it does not matter how well or unwell you write or say something. That creates other problems, mostly of truth or lie, but this is an other question I think.
Hope this helps

O
Definitely does! I had gotten rid of Facebook for a while and it was so freeing. There's little room for comparison of your life to someone else's. At least, there's one less form of it. Sadly I had to get it back for work (my job at the time communicated to employees through messenger). I still have it now and am better at moderating it, but the best I felt was when I didn't have it. It's freeing to be shut off from other's in a way that allows you to focus completely on yourself
Yes it does cause me destress but am addicted. My husband and daughter both deleted their accounts and are happy they did.
