Major Depressive Disorder

I fell into a MDD in Sep-Oct 2022 timeframe. I'm out of the worst part but still feel anxious and depressed at times as though I'm never going to feel normal again. I am on Pamelor and Klonopin. Can someone tell me how long the life of a MDD last. In the early stage I was almost in a vegetative state. Scary place to be.

depression can be situational or systemic. I would start with a situational theory. That means something triggered it. If you can figure out what that is then you can address the root cause with therapy. Idk how old you are but in the case of young people it is sometimes about learning tools to cope in this stressful online world. That’s going to be more effective long term than meds. Curious…did your doctor refer you to a therapist or prescribe and move on?

Thank you Blueruth. I am 69. Seeing a Shrink for meds and a Psychologist. Was triggered due to stressful medical event.

okay that makes sense. Nobody can tell you how long. A lot has to do with outlook and willingness. According to studies people who are told they will be on meds “for the rest of their lives” try less. That goes for any long term treatment really.

It is a individual thing. I have had it most of my life GAD and MDD along with PTSD. How is today going for you?

I have had depression most of my life to include four MDD episodes. Have PTSD growing up in a violent family, 9-11 survivor, and near fatal gunshot wound Jan 2022. As I write this I'm feeling OK, but I'm on Klonopin and Pamelor anti-depressant. How are you doing and what is the root of your GAD, MDD, and PTSD
