Anxiety Symptom?

feeling anxious today about going back to work tomorrow. I slept in and woke up about two and a half hours ago. However I’m already tired. Do you get tired when you have anxiety? I found thag this week I have been more anxious than usual, and also more tired than usual.

My health anxiety took this as maybe me having covid, which just increased my anxiety more. I tested yesterday and a few days prior, and was negative. So I don’t believe that I have it.

Just curious if your anxiety makes you tired

Sometimes anxiety can be exhausting. I have needed more sleep now lately and I don’t know why. I am anxious about restarting some things as well but once we get in there and we’re doing it I bet it will be ok.

Yes the anticipation is always worse than the actual event worried about.

Yes, absolutely. Anxiety causes mental fatigue and that in turn causes physical exhaustion. It's a common cycle for depression and anxiety sufferers. Plus we're in the middle of the winter as the shortest day of the year has just passed right before Christmas. So seasonal affective disorder is also a factor in the dulldrums of long nights and short daylight. Combined with the stressors of the holidays having finally ended...it all contributes to these symptoms you're having. Try not to get too down on yourself.

I know myself well. Winter is NOT my favorite time of year. I struggle a lot during these cold months when it's tough to get outside and exercise regularly. During the summer I'm much more active and energetic. So I've learned to be more compassionate to myself when I need extra rest. Maybe I'm like a 🐻 bear that needs to hibernate during the winter to recharge my body. But either way, I'm just trying to eat a healthy diet and get as much exercise and rest as I can without taxing myself further.

Yes, bad days of anxiety make me physically tired. It can be exhausting!

Like the others, I definitely get tired after anxiety/panic attacks. During them I can't sleep at all, of course. As soon as my mind thinks I'm out of immediate danger, i am dead tired. I can't always sleep (well, almost never), but i can feel like i ran a marathon. After panic attacks especially,, because i learned that my body will tighten muscles that i normally don't use, so i will get weird pains, too (chest, back/shoulder blade, stomach, etc). I hope knowing others have this same feeling can ease your mind. Do NOT take caffeine or anything to try to give u energy, though. U probably already know that, but i even have to stay away from tea, cuz it has caffeine (I'm ultra sensitive, & stimulants will definitely increase my suffering).

Edit: also, sleeping too much can make u tired. Even people without anxiety tell me this.

My anxiety definitely makes me tired and I find myself sleeping more during period of high anxiety. My anxiety is also very high when I have to transition back to work after a period off (the longer the period the worse). However the anxiety tends to be pretty low on the day I return.

Anxiety can be extremely tiring, both physically and emotionally. I find it when I am anxious I have difficulty sleeping but later I will feel very tired and worn out.

It sounds like you are in a cycle which you worry about having Covid, for example, then find some small indication that it might be true, and that makes you feel more anxious and you worry more about having Covid.

It is difficult to break the cycle but it can be done. First, Second Covid test for five days after the original will probably give you an accurate answer to your concerns.

Second, basic relaxation techniques such as meditation, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and physical exercise are always useful in reducing anxiety. You need to challenge how realistic your thoughts actually are.

yes, I can relate. Anxiety is tough on those types of days. Anticipating what’s to come. I have this too. For me, I feel it’s a control thing …it’s outside my immediate control. So, I try a bunch of things to help me. Mini exercises, a walk outside, try to focus on your five senses of here and now. It’s a tough thing to do. I hope that at least one of my tips can help you. 🙏❤️🙏

Anxiety hits us all differently, Daisy. My anxiety disallows sleeping well, and sufficiently. So hoping you find an effective correction soon!
