when’s I feel myself stressed and in a bad olace my guy here is almost an instant calming affect. Got admitted last night having to do with my terminal illness and he’s not with me. If your normal way of relaxing isn’t possible how do y’all handle it or what do you do?

Hi Frank, Since the Mind/Body Connection is so intricately connected, I first

find a quiet/comfortable chair. I place a bath towel in the dryer and wrap that hot towel

around my neck and shoulders encasing my body in a cocoon wrap. Lights low,

I start my belly breathing slow and easy in, hold and then exhale long and slow.

The heated wrap around my shoulders brings them down away from my ears making

me be in a more relaxed position.

My hands are on my knees, my eyes closed. Any intrusive thoughts that are swirling

around my head are exhaled out with my breath. Sometimes I may have a hot cup of

tea that I sip in order to warm my insides and promote more relaxation.

No music involved just mindfulness. Appreciating the quiet and peace in my mind and body.

We have that power within us. Breathe :) xx

Hi Frank, I found a few self care ideas online. See if any appeal to you. I hope you're back to your beautiful boy soon.

Drink a cup of tea.

Read a book. (I love Internet Archive. You can find poetry, prose, and videos free there.)

Say a few positive affirmations.

Think of something you are grateful for.

Try an online course.

Do something that makes you laugh.

Watch your favorite show.

Listen to your favorite podcast.

Try a virtual walk. I like this one:

Google some nice photos.

Listen to your favorite music.

Drink a glass of water.

Read something motivational or encouraging self-care.

Watch a motivational Ted Talk.

hello I am also a dog lover I have 4 rescued pitties that were all products of misfortune. Perhaps if you don’t have your friend, you can watch videos of happy stories of dogs overcoming adversity, finding homes etc. maybe it will help I hope you have a peaceful day

I used to meditate, as trite as it sounds and no doubt you are dealing with a serious ordeal. But since going through Benzo withdrawals, last 6 yrs, I cannot focus. Whatever works in your case, just really hope you are able to find some measure of peace that's real and stays with you. Wish I could go back to that place on that deep inner level again, but at least I know it's there.

Talking with a friend. Meditating. Coloring. Journaling. Coming on here. Fidgets. I’ve got worms, spinners, stones…you name it lol. Apparently touch and connection are what do it for me. Hoping that this is a minor bump in the road and that you are back home with your buddy soon!

Hi FM19.

I spend time with my daughters chihuahua & she is absolutely magnificent the way she stares at me like she completely gets me & of course my favourite is the snuggles & I feel so much inner peace. She is a rescue & came to us a day before lockdown started & she kept me sane during what was 2 years of just us.

I'm so sorry about ur illness & worse still that ur best pal can't be with you . I hope U get home early & get some happy with ur best pal.
