it took me two weeks to taper from lexapro to Cymbalta. I've now been on Cymbalta since 10.14.22 (2 weeks) at 60. I'm also on lithium. I have had very weird side effects. It was very hard for me to sleep. Sometimes 3 or 4 hours, sometimes up all night. We kept switching Cymbalta from day to night and vise versa. The one time I took them together I had a violent reaction in the morning and missed work. Normally I took benadryl to sleep. I took benadryl at 10pm with lithium. When I took my Cymbalta in the morning, it would immediately put me back to sleep and I'd wake up at 3pm. When I took Cymbalta in the morning I'd get a headache and my head wasn't straight. Slight drowsy. My Dr moved Cymbalta to night to help me sleep, but it was so activating I'd be up all night. We moved it back to the morning to try to help me sleep since I can't take something. Finally I slept two nights in a row. But to get rid of the Cymbalta morning side effects my Dr lowered my dose from 60-30. I could not wake up. It was as if I took a sleep aid. And this was lowering my dose in half. All this in two weeks. Today, my Dr took me off Cymbalta and put me on prozac saying --it looks like Cymbalta just doesn't agree with you. But it was only two weeks. True,it would have been nice to sleep, but ive also tried every antidepressant except for 2. But how crazy is this? I don't want to change like this, but should I change to the prozac or stay in Cymbalta until I find a new doctor. I don't know what to do. It does seem that I can't tolerate Cymbalta but it's also only two weeks.

i have depression, suicidal ideation and I don't know what to do.
Hi Josh, fine tuning the right meds, the right dosages as well as the right time of day
or night to take it are so important in the trial and error cycle of medications.
I also would suggest having a psychiatrist rather than a GP overlooking your psych meds.
Good Luck...It does take time but stay positive. xx
Hey, a lot of us just really aren’t going to know what to tell you. We’re not doctors. I just truly hope you start to feel better soon.
i know. Just putting it out there bc I'm really confused and overwhelmed
Hi Josh! I’m confused. You see a therapist and a psychiatrist. I assume the MD is managing your medications. Seems sensible to call your prescriber instead of posting here. Maybe you just want to connect in some way right now because of how you are feeling as described in the title of your post. I hope you can find some peace. M.
my doctor wanted to change my meds, I posted here because in scared and. Confused and wanted to share
Yes, that is what I said.
I tried a half dozen different meds without any success, as you are finding out it can be a prolonged trail and error process. I wound up doing a psychopharmacological test that used me dna to determine which meds were best suited for me genetically. I started one one it recommended (Pristiq) and it has worked well. It's a different kind of med than the ones I had tried before and the test also showed that none of the meds I had tried before were right for me. My test was from Genesight and paid for by my insurance. I had to ask my med provider to prescribe it to me.
