night anxiety

so these last couple of weeks I really felt an improvement with taking meds for my bipolar disorder, but up until a couple days ago my anxiety has been flaring up. Strange thing is it normally happens during the day very rarely at night, but seems lately I wake up in the middle of the night and BOOM there it is. I started my anxiety and depression pill 2 days ago and upped the bipolar meds, so I’m not sure if it’s one or the other triggering it. So my question is has anyone ever taken an anxiety medication that also triggers a panic attack in the beginning?

Have you talked to your doc/psych about it?

Maybe a possible phone call to help ease your mind.

I think I will do that tomm. I’m more anxious about taking 4 diff meds just to even me out, and having side effects from at least 2 of them. I keep being told just gotta get through the first few days, because those are the hardest, and I’m trying not to give up because I’ll benefit in the long run.

As somebody who has been on a serious med merry-go-round in the past, they are.

.

I think putting the phone call in and seeing what your doc/psych has to say is the best thing.

If you both are on the same page, it helps. (at least from my own experience) :)

It's very common to have panic/anxiety when first starting your anxiety meds because you are so hyper-focused on the anxiety and your body is probably overstimulated with adrenalin. Try to relax some and give the meds time to take affect which can take a week or even more depending on the type of meds.

I also found that meds alone did not eliminate my anxiety, it took learning what it really is and how to deal constructively with it to really make a difference for me. I found the DARE Anxiety book, youtube videos and phone app very helpful.

thank you. I have been doing research on anxiety for years, and that’s prolly why I went so long without meds again. I will need to look up the DARE anxiety book though!

Seroquel really helps me but in the beginning it gave me short bouts of panic when falling asleep

yikes. It does sound like you are not on the best medication for your attacks.

I started them 2 weeks ago, and they seem to be working, but being a female with wonderful hormones and a cycle it does tend to make any anxiety spike
