I have had so many disappointing events and extreme losses that I can’t see the future. I’m now living in a city where I don’t know anyone. I haven’t had a good night sleep in a very long time. I suffer from arthritis and usually in bad pain everyday. I want this season in my life to pass so I can see the future.

Uncertain future
I'm in my 60s and know how hard it is to have many losses and disappointments. I gave up on life which is not the way to go. Now I am trying to get back into life in spite of all . Sorry to hear about your physical pain. Maybe that stress is adding to the pain. Do you take glucosamine chondroton? Its a supplement that helps my elderly mother with arthritis. Best to you.
I'm alone and suffer from depression anxiety and am isolated. Ive had a lot of losses. I just need to talk to people like you who are going thru same struggle. I find it helpful. I have some of the same physical problems
I am really struggling. Most days I can’t even get out of bed. Depression and anxiety occupy every waking moment. My bed is my happy place. I just joined this site and I find it’s helpful also. It validates my symptoms and really help me to see I’m not alone.
I would say try to plan something to look forward to every day. Do something to get you out of your house or apartment, like just going to a local coffee shop. Find some type of group activity where you can meet some different people, like a book discussion group at a library or volunteer work or maybe there is a senior citizen center not far from you. Or some type of church activity.
I too suffer with depression anxiety and have arthritis. I walk every day it helps all of that.
For years I just made one lap around the neighborhood now I'm up to two laps. Takes me about 30 minutes each day.
I've had alot of losses and trauma in my life.
I'm in the same situation you are. You can meet new people. I know it's tough with covid right now. I'm not going anywhere.
You now have some new friends on here.
I have early arthritis and some anxiety issues. Walking (and any other safe, practical exercise) is excellent. Get a good rheumatologist if you don't already have one and circumstances will allow. Develop a personal affirmation and say it out loud at least once a day. It can include things for which you are grateful, your strengths, accomplishments, good qualities, friends family, even your material things. Many things make you worthy and strong, remember these, list them and say them out loud. Be proud of who you are and what you've done and have. Be grateful also and know that there is more good to come even if you can't completely control the when, where, how, etc.
Understood - it's tough. Hang in there.
Hi cmsibd,
At times we think about the fact that life is short & our days are “filled with trouble.”
So, it's understandable that we may feel anxious & discouraged.
At age 81, I can relate to disappointment & loss.
Did you know that many of GOD’s faithful servants felt the same way? Some even wanted to die.
(1 Ki. 19:2-4; Job 3:1-3, 11; 7:15, 16)
But time & again, GOD in whom they trusted—reassured and strengthened them. (Like them we can pray to endure)
The accounts were recorded to comfort and instruct us.
—Rom. 15:4.
