Hi all, well here I am again torturing myself with the fear of catching Covid, my daughter and her 3children tested positive for Covid two weeks ago, I was absolutely mortified and the fear is all to consuming, I just don’t know what to do. I got up this morning feeling off colour and freaked out, I did a test which was negative but I just so scared that I will get it, I have become a recluse and don’t like people near me not even my husband, I know it’s absurd but I can’t help the way I feel, just don’t know what to do, any help or feedback would be so welcomed, thanks for reading, am I just being stupid?, I feel it but feel so afraid

Hi there, they reckon that everyone’s mental health has been affected by Covid , i got really anxious about everything, have you had your jabs,

The thing is Covid isn’t going to go away , we’ve just got to learn to live with it like the flu, and do our best , have our jabs, wear masks, keep our distance in a crowd of people , I’d try and get out a little bit at a time, take care

Hi and thanks for your kind reply, yes I’ve had my jabs and my booster which I’m thankful for, I just can’t seem to shake this overwhelming fear. I’ve had a nice walk about in my garden today to get some fresh air which was nice. I think I just need to focus on my good days which are very few and like you said we have to live with asWe love with flu. Thankyou again it’s very kind of you to reply, I feel less alone. Stay safe and take care

You are welcome, what part of the U.K. are you , I’m in South Wales, don’t know what I’d do without my garden either it’s very cold here today so won’t be out there very long !

Hi, I’m in Essex, it’s very cold here but those 10 minutes in the garden were worth the cold, felt like I could breath in the fresh air rather than sit and ruminate

You are right to be cautious about getting covid. Have you had all your jabs? If so the chances of it being really serious is very very low unless you are over 70 with serious underlying health problems.

Being petrified of it without good reason is a bit over the top but this is your health anxiety kicking in. Try not to let if affect your husband if you can.

Hi hypercat, yes I’ve had all my jabs and I know it is so over-the top the way I’m feeling, but I feel so consumed by fear and I don’t know how to break the chain. My husband has been a star as is very understanding but I’m sure he’s had enough of me and I don’t blame him, I’m a mess, just wish my anxiety would do one. Take care and Thank you for your kind reply

Cimmy,

Like Bobby McFerrin says, don't worry, be happy. My doctor, who I respect, tells me that unless a person has serious co-morbidities, COVID is very treatable when treatment is started early. It is over 99% survivable. Just make sure your vitamin D levels are good, take zinc and vitamin C, eat healthy etc. Don't let the liars on the news scare you.

Hi and thank you for your kind reply , my anxiety is ruling my life and I need to break the chain but don’t know how. I do take vitamins and try to eat healthy when I’ve got an appetite which isn’t very often. I try not watch the news as this only fuelsMy fear. Thanks again. Take care

They’ve learned a lot since l last year. I suggest going to your health department website and looking for the latest. Write down all the things that make you low or high risk including what actions you take and read it back. Knowledge is strength. It is okay to be concerned but not overreacting. We are not out of it yet. I have definitely changed my shopping habits and activities since last year. I seek out outside activity more. Don’t feel afraid to wear a good mask (idk where you live). You’ll be fine.

I know the feeling, but as long as you don't live with your daughter and her children you should be OK, especially if you have had your jabs.

Cheers, Midori
