I’m in college athlete and I’ve been suffering from anxiety about 2 years now. I’m just coming on here wanting to know do u think college sports is really worth participating in with covid right now. I was already in a situation where I had to isolate (thank god I was negative) but now someone in my event group tested positive and we still went to practice anyway! I just have been dealing with a lot of stress trying to decide what I should do. I understand I am young and healthy and the virus won’t necessarily take a toll on body but u never know! And I don’t want to be in situation regardless if I’m healthy that I could get covid. I already have high health anxiety trying to diagnosis everything i possibility feel in my body. Worrying constantly will just make it worst. I know you can’t control other people around you but it sucks that u do all you can to make sure u don’t put anybody at risk and other ppl can’t do the same 🙄

If you enjoy sports then take precautions and participate. If participating brings you unhappiness and increased anxiety it's ok not to participate. We are all doing the best we can dealing with a situation we have never faced. There is no right or wrong answer. Many people are anxious and it's hard to explain to others that those of us on this forum began at a much higher level of anxiety and are often over the top. I hope this helps a bit. HUGS and BLESSINGS!

Thanks you so much for your response. It’s like I really want to practice but regardless of how careful I am you can’t stop the people around you!

It's true you can only control what you do. These are scary times. But I have found that not doing something I enjoy makes me feel worse. I know you will find the right balance.

Oh dear. Why on Earth would you guys still be practicing with someone who has the virus? Do you guys have a coach who just doesn't care or what?

(Not trying to sound mean here, but this is just not a good situation).

We practiced with the person that tested positive on Monday she didn’t come Tuesday but they still made us the rest of us come to practice, she could of been in contact with numerous people on our team. I chose to not come the rest of the week! Our athletic department claimed they followed the proper cdc protocols!

Proper protocol is to practice with someone who tested positive????? I see.... They have their priorities seriously screwed up. Unless they didn't know that the person was positive (which I doubt because why would you know,) they should be reported. How maddening!!! Nothing should come in the way of safety, so thank you for you for staying away👍👍👍

It’s really great you care and are concerned& wanting to be cautious!! I’d say try & boost you immune system as best you can and hold off a bit from practice it really isn’t a priority to be taking big risk!! I think exercise is so important but practicing It with safe distance also fresh air and sunshine are soo good for you so isnt there a safer way there you can all do exercises outside being safely& socially distance?? Cause yes exercise , sun and vit d ,is very important to keep people healthy as well!! Have you talked to your coach about this & discuss your concerns??
