Scared

I’m going to take my first antidepressant tonight and I’m scared but I have to take it to help my depression and anxiety,. Nothing else is working.

If nothing else is working, then it's worth trying, especially if your doctor thinks it will help you. Any medication can take some getting used to, so don't expect instant results. But I've taken antidepressants for more than 50 years, and they have made my mood/life better.

It takes a little time but be reassured they work, I’m not a medical professional but try them a few weeks and if you don’t see an improvement ask your doctor to prescribe a different brand because from taking to people I have heard that you may do better on a different medication..Lexapro works for me

I started taking anti-depressants 5 years ago (beginning of My senior year of high school). I still take the same medicine (Zoloft) & I know how it feels to be constantly anxious, paranoid, depressed & then back to anxious and then depressed. I want you to know that these pills have really helped me in my life. They have made me truly realize that the unique people like you and I can make a change in our lifestyles, day-to-day thought process, & motivation/goals. Before my medicine I was in a toxic relationship and that was my tipping point. I didn’t leave my bed for 4 months got fat as a peach and lost all self respect or love that I even had left over for myself. Once I started taking my medicine, it took about 2.5-4 weeks to start kicking in, I genuinely felt self-love for myself and others around me. I realized that free-will is a strong concept. The Zoloft I started taking has helped me improve my thoughts, feelings about myself family friends, & goals in life. I want you to know, I’m proud of you for seeking help and I truly believe you won’t even fathom how much the medicine can help!

Don’t worry, as you can see this medication has helped so many people, I had a complete meltdown earlier this year and didn’t want to go on antidepressants but I had no option, and I’m so glad I did, I did have to try different ones but the one I.m On now has helped me so much, anything is worth a try, they will take a little while to work so don’t give up.
