Trying to get approved for ssdi

I had jaw reconstructive surgery on Aug 3rd 2020. It almost killed me. I'm not the same. I have back pain from past jobs, I have bulging discs. I am depressed all the time. My oldest daughter and her husband and my grandson are moving to Maine. It is really far away from where we live. I do not have money to fly there. I pray I get approved, I'll get back pay from Ssa. It's so frustrating waiting and worrying if this next step I will get approved. I quit my job. I can't work, worried about covid. My lungs aren't the same, I had 2 pulmonary embolism in both lungs. This was caused from my surgery, I had a heart attack too. I had to have this surgery. My jaw could have fractured. I'm thankful to be alive. At the same time I wonder if I'm better off dead.

I’m so sorry to hear what you’re going through. Is this your 1st time applying?

Yes. I applied 10.31.20. I was on unpaid leave from Walgreens. I had to have 2 other surgeries since the beginning of the year. The thing is, I'm not on my death bed. They'll probably say you can do something. I just don't want to anymore. I've been married since I was 18. All I've done is raise 3 children. Just wish I did something before having kids. So now I'm 55 and so lost.

If you’re seeing Drs and you have all your Drs note/reports it’s definitely gonna help your chance of approval. And the fact that you’re 55 helps your chances of getting approved

Thank you. I do have several Drs that I am currently under the care of. I was approved for Medicaid in April, i get snap also. Right before covid last yr i went to my teeth cleaned. They did xrays, thats when the dentist saw I had a radiolucent lesion in my lower mandible. I had teeth but no roots. So i had to find a oral surgeon asap. I was fit for partials in July. I'm still waiting on them. Take Care and Stay Safe

Hi KenKit55, I never knew that SSDI could be a consideration with the proper doctor'sreport as well as a good attorney who will fight for your benefit. My daughter at the age

of 20 something contacted an Social Security Disability lawyer who only got paid if he won

for her. I had heard nightmare stories from people who had Fibromyalgia and couldn't

work or get disability.

Fortunately, my daughter's attorney won the case on the first try. I am hoping this is not

a lifetime benefit for her because she is so young. She suffers from severe Anorexia and

has been on death's door several times.

I wish you well in getting the help you need. You have a lot going on physically and I understand in how you are unable to work. Let's hope you find someone who can help

you. Good Luck :) xx

It is a long process. You def need all your doctors on board with this. The paper trail is key. It took my brother almost a year to get approved post heart attack. It's a waiting game and it's frustrating and scary.

I hope you have a positive outcome.

Hope you get approved! You have a lot going on... I was fortunate enough to get approved on my first try back in 2016. Had a great attorney and plenty of medical backup. I am now 66 and recently got switched over to regular SS from SSDI. Wishing you good luck and please keep us posted.

What does it take for someone to "get it"?

A genuine question. Obviously not everyone can understand mental illness and how it affects people....
