Does anyone else have a steady stream of negative thoughts running through your mind at all time? If so, what are some techniques that help stop them?

I always have negative thoughts bouncing around in my brain. Usually what helps is trying to distract myself with things that won’t leave me alone in my thoughts. I try to talk to family or friends just asking about their day or talking about anything other than my own problems. At the end of the day it doesn’t really help cope long term but at least it’s a temporary solution.

The solutions offered by everyone else here are wonderful! But sometimes, no matter how hard we try to apply them, we can’t. Depending on how severe things are for you, you might want to talk to your doctor! Medication could work wonders alongside the techniques suggested here (and others) so that you can put yourself in a frame of mind where you can actually apply mindfulness, etc. For me, it was a combination of anxiety medication, doing kind things for other people to lift my mood, and finding distractions or taking naps.

Hi there, here are some great helps for you; Taking magnesium helps calm your mind body and spirit so a great multi vitamin with extra mag would be great. Ginseng is great to get rid of sticky negative thoughts that loop too. If you don't like pills you can get mag. thru almonds and ginseng thru ginseng tea. Give your body what it needs, as a base for healing. Also, do you go to a counselor? If you can't afford it many churches offer it free. Walks are very good too, if you can, or just getting outside in the sun, soaking it up for vit. D which is a mood enhancer. Sitting on the ground or standing barefoot will get you grounded again too, it is science, not new age. Push negative feelings away with your hands and breathe in deep peace and tranquility. Face any past hurts and envision them with a better outcome, heal before moving on. You are strong, you will get thru this! Blessings to you, dear.
