Do you also have OCD? It's just a thought. I have those negative thoughts when my depression is bad or I'm feeling overly anxious. All of these things can cause poor concentration. You are not alone by any means!!

Agreed! We are here for you! don't be afraid to reach out.

Also, something that helps me when I'm in those kind of moods, I just completely stop what I'm doing and I place this card game I made up. you don't need a full deck or anything. Just flip the deck facing down, and if you pull a red card, give yourself a compliment! and If you pull a black card, then state a reason why you are content with living! idk, it's just something neat that helps me if you wanna try it too.

It's nice knowing that we are not alone. It helps us get through the hard times. Hugs.

Did you know that whatever your thoughts are.....that grows?!! So if, every time you get a negative thought, you quickly learned to see the positive side of the same thing.....the positive thoughts will start growing! That the power of the human mind. We can make it do almost anything we want it to....it’s all in our control. In fact, it’s the only thing we have complete control over!

You are 100% correct Wellaintgoodenuff. It's the brain. It thinks what we feed it. Ive studied neuroscience and it's fascinating. I just posted on someone elses post check it out. Look under my profile

Yes i understand. And if you allow those thoughts to go round and round you are only hurting yourself. People dont know that we as human beings can change our thoughts. Thoughts can become addictive and we have power to control them. New MRI tech shows this. PM me. I can help you. It's easy simple tools. No weird crap. It's just stuff u dont know about the brain. For ex I will tell you why COVID made pple more depressed and anxious. PM me. The brain- it's fascinating and a powerful tool we can use as an asset for our own problems vs a liability!!!

Start with looking for small little good things. I mean even the smallest little good thing. And be grateful for it. Take a second and relish in that brief but good moment. Don't overlook a puddle, looking for a lake when you are thirsty. A little is better than nothing. As crappy as things are, small little good things still do happen everyday, so don't let those things pass you by. You must retrain your brain to quit gravitating towards the negative. I need to too, most of us here do. Instantly slap down those negative thoughts down and replace them with something else. Positive vibes only. Deny that negative nonsense.

P.S. I started small. I was soo grateful to have salt and pepper on the food in the hospital. That's pretty small, but it really did make a difference.

Blow those small little good things out of proportion like you do the negative, and you will be on you will be on your way. Helps me.

Hi Xoxo33: I have negative memories I keep carrying around with me. The last three weeks have been pretty bad because I've been very busy interviewing. Looking for a job is a full-time job in itself and very stressful. Tonight, I found Bible verses online on depression. I copied them down and found afterward I actually felt better, calmer. I also wrote down some good things in my life like "my guardian angels are nearby", "all I can focus on right now is this minute," "Mark, Ann and Virginia care about me." It helps to write these GOOD things down. These are things I can do to make myself feel better NOW. They are not a quick fix and while I need to feel even better, at least these things make me feel a bit better. I think the reason for this site is to let all of us know we aren't alone. Depression is a very isolating condition. Most people isolate when they are depressed thinking 'who would want to be around me?' I know, I've been told, you need to have a hobby, a faith, good exercise and other things too but the thing is, depression can grab you and you are out of luck if you haven't developed these things yet, like a hobby or faith. Real depression is like you don't want to or can't get out of bed. Today was excruciating for me. It was an effort to put one foot in front of the other. I am totally worried I will screw up a good job I just accepted. I start next week and I'm scared! Most people would be happy. I am but I'm also scared. What if I can't hold it together? I almost wish I hadn't gotten the job and I'm not telling anyone, that's how scared I am. I don't want to have to tell them that I lost yet another job. I put in a call today to three doctors. Hopefully I'll hear something on Monday. (Don't start new job until later in the week.)

A lot of people say to keep affirmations all over your house where you're going to see them frequently. I never did that but I have sat and read affirmations at night when the day was done. That does help me.

Also, these bad thoughts, do you know where they originated? If you thread back through to where they originated, you may be able to discount whomever they came from. This is hard to do. I mean, intellectually I know where my bad or negative thoughts came from and I know they are false but it's feeling it in my heart that I haven't gotten to yet. I still feel stupid, undeserving, worthless, fat, ugly, lazy, all the things that were fed into my brain from the time I can remember. Those things aren't true. I know that but I still feel that they are. I hope this has been somewhat helpful to you. You aren't alone. Try not to feel alone. Thank you for reaching out. Reaching out for help is a sign of strength and you've got it.

I've also heard that taking deep breaths help. Can you find a group? Maybe a church has a group . . . I heard of a church that had a low self-esteem group. Maybe there's a church or other non-profit near you that would have a group that would fit your particular problem with thoughts.

Good luck.
