Finally addressed my issues about six months ago. Was prescribed sertraline and gradually I started feeling a bit better and started enjoying things again. Now over the last few weeks I have started feeling like I almost back to square one, having the same feelings of lethargy and nothingness , like I am treading water. Doctor will increase dosage but I just feel empty. My job is changing, involving more stress, I am still trying to find somewhere else to live. My brother's stepson has cancer and my brother is struggling. I don't want to burden people and I can't go back to way I was before

Almost back to square one
this happens with meds. Hang in, your stress is significant and meds take awhile to figure out. Sorry you have to go through this.
You might need to increase little by little and then give it another 4 weeks… at some point you will feel more like yourself. That’s when you know you reached the correct dose for yourself. I used to be on 50 sertraline in my younger years. Now I need 150… it is what it is. That is the dose my brain needs to be back to myself. Zero side effects. Good luck. Be patient with yourself. Xo
Sorry you have so much on your mind. The problem is we can alway go through similar things, and that does not lesson what is going on in your Life
Do You feel over the long term things will sort out like your new job.
Your Brothers Stepson that is sad and there is very little you can do to help either of them. All I can suggest is be kind to yourself and give yourself time to move on from those negative feelings. You will most probably find your new job given time will work out. Most people go through uncertainties when they change their job.
Have you any hobbies or diversions that will move you on
You could try Relaxation Technique Mindfulness, books available on Amazon that may help you relax and take away some of your concerns.

Thank you, I am hoping the job will work out as trying to find a new one will be extremely difficult and stressful I have tried mindfulness and I have found it helpful. Just as the moment just feeling tired and unsettled so trying to switch off is hard
Have you tried Breathing Exercises, if you are able to control your breathing by slowing it etc that can also help especially if you are anxious or stressed

Hi, I have and usually they work quite well. It is hard to switch my mind off though but it has helped
I’m sorry you’re feeling like you’re almost back to square one. I know that’s extremely frustrating!!
It sounds like your circumstances are just too stressful and unpredictable right now. You will get through this setback and make progress again.
Can you double down on some self care to help yourself get through this? Yoga, water, fruits, vegetables, meditation, time outdoors….
Sorry to hear about your issue, you have a lot to deal with right now and it takes all your mental energy to navigate. The increase in the dosage of sertraline takes a few weeks to work. Last time I was in this situation, my doctor prescribed some diazepam which helped me to pull through the difficult period. Don't lose hope!
