I did the Heinmlich sp? Maneuver on my mom as she was choking and she is fine but the whole family is upset still hearts beating fast shaking...it was very scary. It’s making me feel like anything can happen at any time and I’m on high alert.

This has been one of my biggest fears. Every night for months id be sleeping and suddenly jump up quickly to save my kids from chocking ... of course they were not any of these times.

So this really was quite a scary thing to go through not knowing if I could or could not save her. She is okay though, still shaky, but smiling, walking around the house as usual.

Good for you!!!! That would freak me out too. My ex has problems with sleep apnea and he has some weird thing going on with his throat, and sometimes if he eats too fast he'll start coughing and choking and uggghhh!!! A couple times it got serious and I saw his face turning purple but then he's okay. You're smart that you did that and she's okay. Just relax, all's well that ends well.

Wow yeah. You’re right I’ll relax... it’s just hard because once my nerves get going it’s hard to calm them.

Hey well done. You saved her life. If you are on your own and that happens find a chair and press down hard on your diaphram as that can work too. I heard of someone who did that and survived.

It happened to me once and I did it to myself ... without a chair... I placed my crossed arms down hard and lifted up pressing in hard and my Twix bar flew out 😅 omg

It's a very scary situation.

It will take some time for everyone to get over the shock and fear.

Excellent job ⭐️. Some people lose their focus and can't preform.

Thanks. Oh my so this morning before I left the house I wanted to make sure things were safe for my mom like not having unsafe food in her reach so I moved a few items. ...and my father got all weird and angrily moved them back because he’s a controlling ass. I explained to him before-hand but he doesn’t care ... he amazes me every time he shows me more of who I don’t want to become.

Well, you did what you could. Sounds like you are on the path of emotional health.

Being aware of our shortcomings is the 1st step in changing.

Starrlight profile image
Starrlight in reply to JohnPB

Yeah true we all have shortcomings and changing to do but sometimes anger is there for a good reason.

I agree that anger can be an appropriate feeling that alerts us to the fact that something is not right. It is similar to how pain gets our attention. The difficult part is responding appropriately when we are angry.

good job. you transcended your great fear and saved her.
