I’m getting my wisdom teeth out (all 4) in just over a week. I’m a little nervous because I haven’t had anything done like this before. I’m not really worried about the procedure itself, mostly about the recovery process. If you’ve had your wisdom teeth out and remember what your recovery was like, I would be interested in hearing it! I heard the first two days are the most painful for most people. I believe I’m getting an IV put in for the procedure. How did that feel for you? And how did you feel right after the surgery was done? I just hope that this oral surgery isn’t as bad as I’m imagining it to be.

Hi! I had mine removed, and the process was really easy actually. They gave me medication to help manage the pain but even immediately after the procedure I only took Advil, it didn’t feel any worse than if I had slept funny the night before. I was mainly restricted by my jaw mobility and maintaining the integrity of my stitches. As long as you have some soft foods so you don’t have to open your mouth very wide than you’ll do great
Four at once is a lot. At least you will get it over with. I have had them done one at a time. The top ones do not cause much problem, but the bottom ones have much deeper roots and take longer to heal. I would plan to stay home from work or other activities for the same day and the next day. You should also have whatever foods and equipment you need to make smoothies for at least several days, or get a supply of very soft food, such as yogurt, or even baby food.
I had mine out 20 years ago. I got all 4 pulled and 2 other teeth at the same time with laughing gas only because I hated needles and told them I'd be fine. Got them out in the morning drove myself home took a nap, took some ibuprofen and went out to the bar that night. Yes I was nuts even back then. Top felt like sinuses were full bottom like I held my jaw open too long. Pain was tolerable and I forgot about the procedure within a few days. I just 4 years ago got another 3 teeth pulled and I let them needle me and same thing. They didn't stitch them said they like to let them heal without stitches now. You will be fine they usually put music on so you don't concentrate on the noise. The body can handle a lot trust it and just relax as much as possible. Good luck and gentle hugs 🤗🤗
It is very scary. The way I got thru it was to tell myself that I didn't have anything to do. Just show up. As long as the dentist is not nervous everything will be fine. You just have a nap & then your problem is solved while you sleep. You'll be ok. Its ok & very normal to be nervous. But there is really nothing to worry about.
I have had Sedation for Dental Work since I was thirty, forty years ago for fillings, extractions and other types of Dental Work
You will be in a waking sleep throughout the treatment, generally you will be under for about one hour or so and someone will need to be with you to take you home, and relax.. Generally you will remember very little, although with Wisdom Teethe because they have a large root you will feel tender around where the extractions were undertaken. Paracetamol or similar will help with the pain. You will also need to not play with the extraction, they generally place an antibiotic in the empty socket
To be honest they had me out for one hour in the Surgery then move you back on ward for say two hours and then allow you to go home.
The actual Sedation is fine sometimes they can also use gas, I generally enjoyed the rest and YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT HAS BEEN GOING ON
