Yes I have done it. First session is collecting information.Be open and honest that's the key to success with it.

Good luck

Your welcomeToday you will probably go over a list of things that were painful in your life. That's how my first session was.

Come back in and let us know how it went

I’d say it went ok. I felt a sense of calm during the process but I would be lying if I said it didn’t bring up old and different memories too.

We scheduled another session so I’ll give it a few more tries

Yes I think I was shocked when I did my list and saw the depth of the pain and how long it had been going on for. I thought my whole problem was one event. It ended out being so much deeper.

The therapy is hard. It's emotional. But those emotions we have bottled up inside need to come out.

I'm glad to hear you will give it a few more tries. I would love to hear how it goes for you.

I had tried it for a year. Not sure if it really worked but I definitely learnt a lot about my thought patterns etc.

That’s good that it brought some sort of enlightenment to you. I’m definitely skeptical about the effect of it being virtual.

Thanks.

It was recommended by my primary therapist as I have been in a violent abuse relationship. Since getting sober from alcohol this past year I’ve had vivid flashbacks of trauma. So I’m hoping this helps redirect my thoughts in those moments

I think EMDR is supposed to be particularly helpful for traumatic events. What happened with me was I kept getting flashes of being raped again after recovery many years later. Through EMDR and a lot of other spiritual practices, I finally learnt that it's because my boss was subtly abusing me through psychological mind games and subtle power abuses violating my boundary through political brainwashing. I don't know if it was all due to EMDR, but it was one of the techniques I employed.

Sorry you had to endure that trauma :(

I keep getting flashbacks of being strangled and suffocated by my X so those are the images we revisited during the session.

What other spiritual practices helped you come to that realization?

I’ve done EMDR and I would 100 recommend it! It might take a couple sessions, but you’ll definitely start feeling relief
