ditto......plus....I'm grateful for my garden, and our cute little kitties, plus....all the people on this site have been amazing....for that alone I am very grateful.
Yeah, dogs can be fun too.....we lost our boy some months back, but he's always here with us though...and thinking of him just makes me smile....'the strawberry thief'....I'll never forget the red lips on him after stealing a strawberry out of the garden, and eating only half of it...Totally busted.
He didnβt know he was supposed to be a dog...he would sit upright like a person on the rocking chair in the kitchen and act like he was in on the conversation we were having....He and the cat had it all worked out....one of our cats some years back....when we were cooking dinner, would wait till we were not looking and throw down a pork chop to Spike, the dog, and then run off with the other...yeah....a couple of real comedians....then they would lay on the mat together in front of the fire.
Yes we lost our cat a few months ago and like you we feel he is with us in ways. That strawberry lips, rocking chair and pork chop stories are so great.
I like hearing dogs and cats getting along together. I like it that their like a team together!
We had a black lab growing up. I loved that dog. She was so much fun. She would play and never want to stop. In my later teen early twenties my parents got a cat. She was a great cat as well. Have some good memories! Grateful to have had them both in my life! I hope one day to be able to get a dog and a bunny rabbit again!
The other night I was in the bathroom & saw Dory, the 10 lb black Cat, run by & into the computer room, which was dark. On her butt was Abby, the 40 lb Dog, running past me & into the same room. Seconds later, Abby came flying out of the room - tail between her legs like she had seen a ghost!!! All I could hear as Abby came out was hissin' & spittin'. LOL!!! Dory doesn't even have front claws!!!
The second story happened decades ago.
Our roommate, aptly called "Caveman", stayed home to cook a turkey on the grill. We went ahead so we could start partying at a friend's house. It took forever for him to bring that turkey, but he eventually did - minus the legs! They were like sheered completely off! Well, apparently, our dog, Sammy, was outside & somehow got to those legs & ATE 'em!!! Sadly, Caveman died several years layer of cancer. Do you know that I actually believed that story until maybe 2 years ago, when I figured it out all by myself! I mean, the rest of the turkey was fine...how did Sammy get JUST the legs without pulling that big ol' bird to the ground?!
Good stories. Thank you for sharing. I used to watch a cartoon back in the day called "captain caveman" I'm not entirely sure if that was the title of the show or just a character in the show. It's been so long! I loved cartoons!
"When we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives, we become grateful for the abundance that is present" (taken from Learning to Dance in the Rain) The power of gratitude.

Do you guys use "dad" for your father? All my knowledge of British culture comes from Monty Python. I imagine everyone is addressed as a twit or bloody b*stard. π

I am grateful to have fresh clean water and not to have to travel miles to get filthy contaminated water . I am grateful to have food to eat. I am grateful I am not having to live on the streets. I am grateful I have family and friends who care about me. π¦
I am grateful for another day of life, a place to live and food to eat. If everyone just thinks a little we all have things to be grateful. It is really enlightening to write a gratuity list everyday. Write 3 things down and there are so many. We tend to dwell on everything wrong. Thatβs what life is, good and bad, and we are to help each other through it
I am grateful to God bringing me to a wonderful caring family, assisted living and caring friends that helped me when I needed them. I still have issues but I am handling it better.

Like you when I am low, I always consider the positive things in my life. Generally where we live is a positive thing that stands out in my thoughts, However there are negative vibes I cannot get away from, the fact is sometimes even around here can be present to burst my bubble.
We returned from holiday Sunday and could feel negativity in the air. I have to put that at the back of my mind, holidays contain positive vibes, I suppose whatever I feel we will return to past problems. We have to face those and move on.
I wonder what awaits us, hoping that the positive beats the negative once more
True we have to face problems and move on and at times they seem to pile up but everything happens for a reason maybe some negatives will turn into positives like making us more patient or stronger. Positive usually beats negative but itβs so hard to see any positives when down in depression or spiraling in anxiety. All we can do is our best I guess.
Ermm..so much to be grateful for: my sight, my strong little legs π that carry me so far: Nature, Trees n birds n my little beach, Clear thinking (mostly), Summer, Chocolate, Peace, n most of all my darling Girl. ππ»βοΈnice one Starlight. X
So inspiring! I posted my list in an earlier gratitude thread from Starrlight. There were lots of good lists on there, too. Is it possible to merge threads? Anyway, here's the link:
Hi i can sympathize your feelings. I too last year surgery for brain heamoragh it was touch and go but I survived i too suffer anxiety through this and now I also have seizures so I do sympathize with you so much. I hope you feel better soon. Love crissypresso
It is a lovely day here and I have been doing some dead heading in the Peony part of the garden, my wife has over thirty varieties and there was a mass of dead or dying flowers to remove. It took some time and by the time for a tea break came about and we were sitting in the Living room looking outside at my handy work. Hazel turns to me and says that the flowers I had dead headed, the remaining flowers were turning their flowers towards where where sitting, it seemed like an acknowledgement of a job well done
In a way I suppose we all need attention throughout our lives, we are like flowers turning towards the sunlight, it is better we do that than hanging our heads down to the earth when things go wrong. We need to look for the positive rather than the negative and move on to that bright, sunny day and view the flowers looking for the sunlight.
Life is to short to look and the night, instead of the day
I love how you describe us as the flowers looking to the sunlight needing attention. Beautiful
Im grateful for my parents and my overprotective older brothers that are always in my business π and im grateful for the beach, surfing keeps my brain sane
