To those who have responded to my previous posts, thanks so much—I appreciate it!
Hate to start the year off on a negative topic, but how do you all handle your anxiety in regards to the pandemic? Cases have gone up and it’s scary.
I have been safe when I see friends and family (wearing masks, keeping our distance), but I can’t shake the fear of catching it and something bad happening, mostly because you just never know. I have GAD, panic disorder, and health anxiety, so I’ve been having a rough time. I’m in my early 30s, but again, you just never know.
How do you cope with this?
Thank you and stay safe!

A lot of my anxiety has skyrocketed during the summertime due to covid. This was when everything was opening back up. It scared me because I knew there would be more cases because people would be out more. I became paranoid about it and my anxiety played a trick on me causing shortness of breath! I then instantly started freaking out thinking it was covid. But you would have more than shortness of breath if you had covid. I know covid is very scary for those with anxiety and especially those with health anxiety like me. The news rarely shows how many people actually recovered. The majority of those who have had covid recovered! It’s really nothing to worry about unless you have health problems. I recommend taking zinc + elderberry gummies. I’m sure you can find them on Amazon or at your local drug store (CVS). Zinc and elderberry help fight off sickness. Many doctors recommend taking it.
Happy New Year to you as well! As far as Covid you are coping with it though I understand it doesn’t feel like it. There’s plenty of people without GAD, panic disorder, or health anxiety that feel exactly as you do. I’m amazed that there are people who don’t and act like this isn’t real. So please don’t beat yourself up for having the legitimate fears and concerns that you have about the pandemic. Keep taking the precautions that you have been and know that you’re doing all you can do In this situation.
findingmyzen The Pandemic has certainly added another level to Anxiety.
However, I cope with it the way I cope with everyday life and that's by separating
what I have control over and what I don't.
I take all precautions regarding Covid but like you said "You just never know".
But we can't live our lives worrying about every thing we fear in life or our world will get smaller and smaller. I take this time as a learning experience. I keep busy each day.
I do not sit and sulk and complain. Should a worry thought cross my mind, I ask myself,
is this helpful? The answer is "No"...and then focus on a more positive thought.
I hope this helps you some. Stay Positive and Stay Safe This too shall pass xx
I can’t say that I have coped well with the pandemic. The first few months i was able to cope and adjust; however the last six months have been hellish. As we have entered winter and it is more difficult to visit with friends and family outside I am becoming more and more unhinged.
Agora wrote some powerful stuff above... I find that I just ruminate about how ‘I’ need this situation to be over. But as Agora writes - don’t sulk and complain. If a thought isn’t a positive one move on.
Hopefully, if we can pick up from agora’s advice we can both be dealing with this situation better than we currently are.
