COVID-19 HIGH ANXIETY IS NORMAL

Hi Everyone,

As COVID-19 worries are at the forefront, there is a lot of extreme anxiety circulating within the masses. Please know that this anxiety is NORMAL. Fear of the unknown is a major anxiety trigger for many of us.

I live in the SF Bay Area where the virus is spreading and the numbers are going up. We have been mandated “Social distancing” (stay at home unless going out for medical purposes, pharmacy, or groceries).

I communicated my anxiety with my therapist today. He told me something I found quite interesting, “social distancing” and “social isolation” are not the same thing. Basically mandated social distancing is to slow the spread and growth of the virus.

As for the anxiety... turn on the TV News, pull up the Internet news, and it’s all about COVID-19 or the Stock Market free falling. Yes, scary and anxiety producing. Yet my therapist said, “We will get through this.” Hearing that actually gave me some solace.

And that is my new mantra, “We will get through this.”

So what can we do?

— Know that this anxiety is normal. You are not alone feeling that.

— Follow CDC.org guidelines.

— Stay hydrated. Drink water regularly

— Eat healthy

— Get rest

— Shift to grocery home delivery (if available)

— Seek comfort from friends that are sympathetic, empathetic and positive thinkers (there’s several of us here on this site)

— We will get through this

All my best,

-MZ ❤️

My pleasure always ❤️

Am I the only one who is not worried about myself but someone else? Which is making it worse because I have no control over my loved one or any events. I can wash my own hands. I am okay with my own death. But I cannot bear the idea.....I cannot stop sobbing. I've been watching this unfold since the end of December and I've played Plague 100's of times, which I feel guilty for now, and I won't express my thoughts because they might be a trigger to others. But I saw this coming and everything I thought would happen is happening. .So I can't tell if my crazy strong intuition is working or if it's just straight irrational terror.

Hi Failsafe2020,

It’s normal fear and anxiety what you’re feeling. I feel it too. You are not alone by any means.

These are new uncharted waters for everyone on the planet. We’re all in this together. There’s no escaping the news or the uncertainty.

But there are things we can do that are within our control. You and I know to wash our hands. I tell everyone else that too. I’m no medical professional. But I help let others know what they can do to be safe. And I keep saying, “We will get through this.” Be vigilant. That we all have control of.

Best,

MZ ❤️
