I went Law school am disabled and it is Extremely illegal to discriminate against your friend for Tourette Syndrome.

They know this is illegal and are hoping that the ADA is not contacted for a case.

I would contact them to see if any Lawyer is interested in a Lawsuit.

I would do this just to scare the S out of them. Even if it goes nowhere you can put them through pure Hell for this.

Illegal is Illegal. They will say he is disruptive. He can contest that limited disruptive behavior has to be accepted.

That is the Law. He has a right to schooling a job and a life. They can't shut him out of a life due to a disability. Too bad if they don't like it. He has a legal right to schooling.

The disabled have a right to Life Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

They are Blocking him, Look into this. He has nothing to lose. I would Never give up.

The things you people report really get me Hot!!!

So very well stated. People who do not live everyday of their lives with a disabling condition have no idea how limiting your life becomes. No one needs speed bumps or road blocks in the way as they journey through this life. I personally believe that the poor, the sick, the disabled are here to teach any of us who don't have a disabling condition how to learn to love and to help.

Okay, a Lawyers letter is very powerful.

A lawyer can write a letter to the University that unless your friend is re- enrolled by a certain date then a Lawsuit will be filed listing the fines that will be sought and assessed by County Court.

No University wants this kind of negative publicity and Fines.

Very politely ask for a Pro-Bono Lawyer that can do this at no cost. I was represented at no cost and won. It isn't hard at all for any Lawyer, and Judges Hate unfair illegal treatment just because the University is inconvenienced. And If there is any retaliatory behavior by that University, the consequences for them will be terrible. I did win doing this myself twice against a discriminating employer and an institution.

Tell him to fight.

Thank you for letting me know 😊

I was more mad at what happened to me and it took years of fighting to win.

I'm actually still fighting this. It goes on for years. These people are big and it's hard to win entirely,

I just wanted you all to know you are not helpless.

Any organization will be happy to help.

I am so sorry about that and also thanks for the kind words 😊

I'll call down. My phone rings round the clock everyday dealing with these people.

I made it sound a lot easier than it really is.

Does your friend want to fight it? I know the other replier feels YOU should fight, but the reality is that it’s not your battle. You can be supportive and help your friend in any way you can but he needs to take the lead. Keep in mind that you need to take care of yourself too.

I think he does in fact he said that he has a right to be at school I understand why you think that way also i am 16 so i really cant ask for a lawyer unfortunately but i am being supportive to him . That is true i am such a giver i really dont care about myself as much i love helping people a lot

Sorry I keep adding, ignoring me is fine.

My computer is blocking me from everything and that makes me crazy.

Thursday and Friday were the only 2 days I got off from all this in 6 weeks straight from the 2 phone calls I get everyday from public defender lawyers. They like me so I have that. I'm under constant threat of losing everything.

It's possible they will continue leaving me alone, which will mean I actually did really win, but they won't tell me this. They have all the power and I have to just wait to see.

It's possible I just finally won. I have to wait all next week and if that phone stops ringing finally it will mean I did win.

You see I really was terribly upset for me. I was forced out of my job as a bank Assistant Vice President for a disability just like your friend. Quite a coincidence isn't it? To have the exact same problem happen.

Just ignore this. I like to vent, I'm incredibly angry at the 100's of phone calls and endless unwanted visits to my home by these people. They're more powerful than me. What they say is what happens. I just have to answer endless questions and do everything they say or I totally lost immediately.

Okay - This computer refuses to keep working I normally can fix everything I am a good computer programmer but I've never seen this before where I keep fixing it by rebooting then it just blocks me again.!!!

HU even blocked my password and made me create a new one for no reason at all.

Actually things are going really good not getting any of the normal 4 calls is a really Good sign !!! I've actually in Court for years fighting everything under sun...

I just posted asking people to tell me all their problems and all I'm doing is writing about all My problems.

You know if you believe in prayer at all even a little bit, if you could silently say a short Prayer for Officer Dave K. that would be a big help because he is the top dog in my race to win. He's really friendly. He day said to stop worrying so much that the worse thing is not going to happen. He can write a letter to the Judge for me. I'm afraid of that Judge.

He's only been nice to me one time in years. He actually just sentenced a guy to 13 years for submitting fake pee for a drug test right in front of his wife who was sitting right next to me and was really calm somehow.!!

I've been joking around with everyone and look what's really happening.

You said it's okay to vent. I hope you meant that because I just did. I think I feel calmer now. Things really aren't that bad, I just seem to worry so much Lilly40.

Sorry to hear about that, Tourrets can be something that’s misunderstood because they can do or say unpredictable things? My nephew/Godson has it, there have been times where he has just fainted? He’s on life long medication. He comes over Rarely, he’s about 10 plays with my grandson who’s 6 and has made fun of him, he doesn’t understand what he’s going through. We have corrected my grandsons behavior to not make fun of anyone who’s Different. I hope things get better for your friend ? 😷🙏

Thanks Tourette’s is a very misunderstood condition The media portrays Tourette’s syndrome as a cussing disorder a disorder where people swear non stop and only 10 percent of people who have Tourette’s swear or yell inappropriate things that is called coprolalia my friend cant control it and has always apologized to people including me i tell him to not apologize in front of Me because he cant control it And I understand what Tourette’s syndrome is people just need to understand that he’s not doing it on purpose.

Just a suggestion as I’m not a lawyer. Maybe you could write a letter to the university explaining all the facts Involved and ask them as nicely as possible to reverse their decision. I would guess that if they turn down your request then they cannot use the excuse they were not aware in any potential future action.

I will think about that

I agree . he actually told the teachers and students in every classroom that he’s in explaining that And yet the university kicked him out after explaining that . it makes me furious That a university could do this

The university people are in the wrong. This young man has the right to a fair education. Yes, his disabilities may be problematic and disruptive, but that does not negate his rights. Involve a physician and a lawyer in this situation. There are equipped to help the young man. There are places where their services can be accessed for no fees. A social worker may be another professional to add to the team. He must beat the bushes to search for any help he can access or is entitled to have. You are a very good friend to be concerned. His situation is not easy.

On that note, I want to add I was working as a teacher of children with multiple disabilities in an urban school. I had two educational aides in my classroom. I am diagnosed with PTSD and epilepsy. Much stress and a medication problem caused me to have a seizure at my job. I heard I had a full-blown epileptic seizure plus screaming for help that someone was raping me. I was quickly edged out of my job. I could have contested this but I didn't. I wish your friend courage and a much better outcome in his situation.
