Why now and why me

Why now at 73 have I had three epilepsy fits and a delusional episode! Has anyone gone thru this! Some times I am back in Vietnam fighting the next I feel myself being thrown down jerking on the ground.. Dave

How severe is the anemia?

What treatment will you be having?

I had an iron infusion

They have me on iron pills, can't see that they are doing any good

All they do to me is make my poo black!

Yes, they do! They can also cause constipation in some people.

But they should improve your anemia. How long have you been taking them and have you had follow up blood tests to check for improvement? If they're not helping - maybe enquire about an iron infusion?

I understand that having a drink of fresh orange juice or eating something high in Vitamin C can help with absorption of iron.

Are you eating enough in general?

I asked about blood tests because I know that low sodium levels can cause a seizure/fit. (My husband collapsed, it was caused by low sodium, was told to call the doc if he had a seizure, but recovered. We changed from using refined salt to fine Sea Salt).

Dehydration can also cause confusion.

It's good that you're going to be seeing a Neurologist.

Hope your appointment comes up soon , then he/she will, hopefully, diagnose you and be able to help.

First Dave thank You for your service. My brother whose 70 was in the Vietnam War also. He doesn’t want to talk about it. So we Respect it. I don’t know if he has any side effects from the war? Have you sought treatment for this? I wish You the Best, let us know how your doing? 😷🇺🇸

I have an appt. In Dec with a Theropist but am trying to be seen sooner. My thoughts all center around this. 6weeks ago I went into a catatonic trance! I lost all since of reality! I was in the hosp. For 8 days before they brought me back. During all of this I was back in Vietnam fighting to my life. When I came out of it I could barely see my eyes hurt like he'll. They told me at one point I did not close my eyes or even blink! They thought I my have damaged my Cormier but with antibiotic eye drops they got better, but can't see as well as before, guess I better see an eye Dr.

Delusions are a sign of dementia and you admit to having them but it's your mind and life so good luck and I hope you find a solution.

That sounds horrible, I'm very sorry.

I'm almost 40 and had 2 incidences of seizures, it is very confusing.

When it happened I lost memory of well before and after..but your fully conscious for the whole event? Hope that doesnt come off wierd to ask, just trying to figure this mess out too.

Doesn't sound weird to me IMy dreams are so real being 40 you've probably don't know what napalm and the smell of burning bodies smell like and I pray to God you never do! My heart goes out to brother

Maybe PTSD - 'post traumatic stress disorder' is catching up on you. I'm sure that's what caused me to have seizures. Talk with your GP. Wishing you the very best. Michele

I have a face to face with a neurologist on Thursday hope he can help I was in the hosp. For two days and had a CT scam and an MRI after what I thought was an epileptic seizure. The nuralogist told me it was caused by stress! I'll know more when I see the other neurologist tomorrow! Thanks for your post my brother. I'll let you know what he says.

I had a face to face with him via Zoom. We talked for a short time then he said he wanted me to have more EEG tests... One in Dec. And one in Jan. I do have an appt. In Dec. On the 8th. To talk with someone don't know if he is a Theropist or physiologist...either one suits me just fine!

Something triggering all this. Have you seen a doctor? Do you have a therapist? My God ! Have you ever been to therapy? That must be so scary to relive those terrible experiences! I feel for you! Have youEver gone to group therapy with other vets to discuss your experiences? God bless !

The KS I went to a Theropist in 2016 foe 6mos. Helped slot but 5 months ago the night terrors came back . I saw myself being attacked by 6 men with long knives. I only had one bullet left, I put the barrel of my m24 rifle in my mouth but couldn't reach the trigger! I saw the face of the last man I had killed, diving at me knife ready to strike! Then I will up, the taste of steel in my mouth! Can you die in a dream, I think you can and I'm scared to death!

Thanks for replying, I get lost in my thoughts at times. Just got news I have an appt. Nov. 22ndd to see a new Theropist I have one big fear, dying in my dreams. I've come close..... But what are your thoughts RE: can you die in a dream?

I understand it. Actually thoughts are ours, conscious or unconscious but they have nothing to do with the action, we may find it blurry and misinterpret thoughts for actions but if we can work for it and can come to stage where we can differentiate, the things would be much sorted. So is with dying in the dreams, though we will never know how we will die but definitely not in dreams .

You work through your recovery process, these thoughts would losse their hold slowly.

Thanks so much it just feels so good to talk to someone about it. I've lived thru so much, buddies in front of me, besides me all falling dead, but I lived and fought another day (months actually).

Again thanks for your thoughts...makes my days to get help tenable! Since I left off I have fallen twice more. Second fall landed on my elbow that has a plate and screws. I now have an appt. To see about removing it if bones have healed properly! So this has taken ed my thoughts off my other problem. Yea! Again thanks a bunch for your posts.
