So I saw cardiologist today. I got so anxious while there my heart rate skyrocketed, as it always does. As a new patient, I had to get an EKG. The minute I got on the table, my heart rate went to 156! The EKG was normal except for the rate of course. When the doc came in it started coming down and my exam was normal. She’s more concerned about my anxiety than my heart rate. I’m going to have an echo just to check structure. Had a normal 48hour holter 4 yrs ago, so not repeating that.
My question is, does anyone else experience tachycardia like this whe going to doc? 157 is high and I feel like an idiot. Thanks in advance

I’ve been suffering from heart palpitations for about a year. The holster monitor showed they were benign “PVC’s” likely caused by stress. I recently had a treadmill stress test to check my heart under stress. When they strapped everything on I felt anxious and my heart rate went up to about 120. The tech kept saying “wow your heart rate is really high!” Haha, that did NOT help calm me down or feel better. I laid down and took a few deep breaths to get my rate down before beginning the test. I explained to them I was nervous and they understood.
Even laying down didn’t help me. Once the anxiety starts for me, I can’t control it. After talking w the MD it did come down. Very frustrating. Thank you
I’ve always had a fast heartbeat. I’m sure anxiety doesn’t make it better. I did a holter monitor for 24 hours last year and it found that my heart rate is averaging around 110. They actually put me on beta blockers for it. They always comment how fast my heart rate is too! It makes me anxious! I hope it’s just anxiety in my case. But yeah my doctors didn’t seem too concerned about it until I pressed them for more info since it’s always fast. I’m only 28 too.
I just so happen to want to the dr back in April & winded up n the hospital. I went to dr office just to get BP checked. Was told heart rate was high. Dr came had me do a couple of things tryn to bring it down but it continued up 180. Called ambulance to take to hospital & wounded up getting admitted 4 3 days. Now am under care of heart dr. So I understand.
