Pain Updated

Just left urgent care. The doctor said my chest pains were from Acid reflux just as I expected. They also did an EKG which was normal as well.

So now I have to completely change my Diet.

I should expect that my chest pains should continue cause of my anxiety. Which I’ve had a few times in the past. It does feel more like a pressure and muscle. Not too deep inside the chest.

Feel free to give any pointers on what foods I should eat.

AlFreddy, since it’s acid reflux, whatever suggestions you get for diet, take care to not lay down soon after eating or drinking. wait an hour or two to lay down after consuming anything.

Hey I really like your name.

Reminds me of this song from The Smiths.

But yes thank you for the suggestions. I appreciate it.

Does that apply even if it’s a snack?

Like 2-3 saltine crackers?

Yeah that’s the one. I’m a big smiths fan. Mainly lyrically.

And thank you for the tips by the way.

when my acid reflux rears its ugly head I stay away from any rich sauces, gravies especially tomato based. Onions, beans, cabbage are bad for me. Fried anything also bothers me. I take a Prilosec tablet every day. Raising the head of your bed will help also. Good luck.

Ive yet to pick up my medication they gave me, so I can try it out. Thanks for the tips.

How long did it take you until you could start feeling better?

We just went through this with my daughter. Doctor recommended bland diet: breads, potatoes, lean chicken. No oils, fatty foods, processed foods, dairy. She was on it for a few weeks and is now able to eat some normal foods now.

That’s very good for her. I’m glad she can eat better now. As for me I have to change my whole diet unfortunately. Which is ok in a way since it will be more healthy for me.

Exactly. Nothing wrong with bland no fatty diet.

Hi alfreddy7, Acid Reflux is very common among the anxious person.

Nervousness makes us swallow a lot when not eating, producing more acidity

in the stomach.

A good tip is to enjoy mealtime. Sit in a straight back chair, not in bed and not lying

on the couch. Eat slowly and chew well. Having some small sips of water can help.

After dinner, do not (as others said) lie down in bed. Don't do anything strenuous or

that involves bending over. Allow your food to digest w/o event. More so it's more

about how you eat your food then what you eat. Slow & Relaxed. :) xx

Hello agora,

Thank you for your always welcoming advice.

I do honestly think it’s mainly anxiety that led to acid reflux and chest pain.

It’s not severely painful I can function normally. It’s more of a discomfort that comes and goes away.

I usually sit up in my couch after I eat. Not sure if I’m not supposed to do that. I sit up for 2 hours.

But I will have to stand up and walk around it I have to from now and on.

Sitting is fine. Don’t recline or lay for at least 2 hours. Also sometimes small meals and small snacks in between is better.

Yay!! Means I can at least watch TV while sitting up.

Thank you for the info :)

If you have anxiety most of your symptoms of digestion.nausea etc will go away if your anxiety is under control. I was nauseaus, regurgitating not eating taking all sorts of pills for stomach issues. when i switched meds for anxiety all went away. i am not saying i am great but oh so much better. hope this helps

Hello Barlock

I just started taking Pepcid about 3 days ago. I feel like it has been working a bit.

I definitely don’t feel as bloated and chest doesn’t hurt as much after a meal.

I know anxiety is playing a role on my reflux, ever since I started getting symptoms is the same time my anxiety got bad.

Thank you for your reply :)
