Visual changes
Many people experience visual problems when they suffer from anxiety. including light sensitivity. I have experienced this as well, not bad but enough to notice it and it be an added stress. Course I have had crappy vision most my life anyways so there is that but it has not been fun to deal with the issues it can cause. I am sorry you are facing this too.
My eyes are a bit blurry, light sensitivity but also little, tiny black dots, not enough where i can't see or drive or anything but it is there. I have had my eyes checked twice but they are fine, i just hope they go back to normal one day. Thank you so much for your reply.
Hi Lioness, I have experienced blurry vision with anxiety. I was focusing on it a lot, and then it was one sensation after the other that I was worried about. But it started with dizziness and blurry vision.
Hi Lioness1971, by all means Anxiety can causes changes in our vision. As well as,
medications such as anti-anxiety and anti depressants. They change the pupil of the
eye as well as the muscles behind it.
When we get tense, our muscles tighten in our body but know that there are muscles in the
ear canals as well as the backs of the eyes that can tighten as well. The ears can cause dizziness and pressure feelings as the eyes can cause blurry vision.
As uncomfortable as it may be in having an MRI, if it is what your doctor ordered, it is wise
to follow his orders. Once you get clearance with the results, you may be able to relax enough and allow your "what ifs" to settle down. xx
Sensitivity to bright light is well known. Also I have experienced a silvery sparkle on bright horizontal structures and scintillating scotomata (the visual aura that often accompanies migraine but without the headache.
Anxiety can affect our vision just as it can affect all our senses and all parts of our bodies, nothing is immune.
But for reassurance it is always wise to get an examination from an eye specialist using an opthalmoscope with slit light.
It is amazing what our bodies can do under stress and when the body is releasing a stressful, hurtful memory. After one very emotional therapy session a hand print appeared on my cheek. The print was hot to the touch and flaming red as if I had been slapped. Turns out I had been slapped as a child.
Good for you for going ahead with the MRI.
I have had visual changes that were temporary but nearly vertigo inducing when experiencing a panic attack. Not so much now though.
