No purpose in life.

I honestly am at the lowest i have ever been probably in my whole life. I was terminated from my career. I’ve been looking ever since with no luck yet. I stay in bed all day because i feel like i have no purpose here on earth. It’s like...everyday i wake up and i know i am alive but I’m not actually living. It’s like I’m in a shell of my own body and I’m just walking around aimlessly, lost and so alone. (Before anyone asks i am under mental health care with medication, but the medication can only do so much...)

Good morning🌤

Reach in deep and find what you need inside of yourself, it’s there even if it’s buried

Get up

Move your body

Do something proactive to take care of you❤️

Or you can continue to chose to lay in bed and give up, feeling worse about yourself

Oh mate, all I can offer is a digital hug and to show genuine empathy. It can be so demoralising so understand a little of what you are going through. Sometimes things pile on top of rack other when we just want some balance. I'm my case I try to force myself on. Suffered for years, tried various treatments to no avail. Struggle to get help and people supposedly close to me dismiss. So I say to myself. Well you can sit here and complain. Which will do nothing. Or you can keep trying. Which may do nothing but might just do something. Even without anyone or anything else we are treasures. Priceless unique wonders. Never forget you are really really special. We're all rooting for you.

I know that feeling very well, it's what I'm dealing with too and I haven't worked in years. I'm trying to find a job where it would be something I wouldn't hate doing. It can be a cruel world out there. Job interviews are nerve wracking. Something someone said to me that helped me is that if you're riding a horse and you fall off of it, eventually you get up, you dust yourself off, and you get back on it. It's ok if you need some time to just be sad, but don't give up hope, tell yourself you will find a better job with hopefully a better work environment. Believe in yourself.

Please do not put yourself down. Been in your shoes, one of the things that has helped me thru my life, good quality therapy with a therapist that specializes in depression and anxiety. I have one now, Just come out of a 3 year trip thru hell, I am on Cymbalta 60 mg daily and Trazadone 100 mg at bed time. I started with this wonderful woman last Nov 2019, she has helped me So much, cannot go and see her now because of the virus, so we do phone talk twice a week. Please look around for help. Believe in yourself, you are stronger than you know, you are special with your own set of talents. Life is very difficult, a book that I read about 40 years ago was So helpful, it was in the top 10 best seller list for 7 years, by Dr. Scott Peck "The Road Less Traveled", Amazon has it used /new it is a worthwhile investment, I still use it today, it gave me a lot of understanding.

When you get up in the morning go to a window and look out at trees, flowers, birds if near by. Look at the sky, play some nice uplifting music, if the weather is nice, go out for a walk, go to a park listen to the birds, look for squirrels and flowers, think of all the things you are grateful for, keep a gratitude book, I have had one for 20 years, just simple things I write - saw a hummingbird today, spring is here the daffodils are blooming, the trees are starting to green up., etc., etc., I like to go back and read my books, they uplift my spirits. Find some uplifting hobbies, cross words, jigsaws, painting, baking, basket weaving, something that interests you. Volunteer work. You will make it thru, we always do, things change, we grow and learn. Write to us, we offer support and love, sending you big hugs and love.......

p.s. If you can afford it consider getting a dog at the animal shelter, it will give you love, play with you, go for walks with you. Not into dogs, get an older cat at the shelter, they will be good company and loving......

This is tough. Keep it simple, write an easy to do list and try to scratch at least one item off. It’ll give you a little sense of accomplishment/purpose and make you leave your shell for a little while. Do things you know you can accomplish and expand from there. If you can ultimately find a little bit of a routine, it’ll help with the wandering through life and give you a little normalcy after losing your job. I lost my job and it affected me immensely, not much to replace it but if you can fill it with some small things it should help. Shit is hard right now, keep that in mind when you start beating yourself up.

You know I wonder if you have a thyroid or hormonal problem like me. I am not a doctor but recommend finding maybe an endocrinologist and keep bugging them until you feel better. I say this because I would like to see you get help. There are a lot of resources for mental health issues but it could be something else causing it. I have hypothyroidism. thyroid meds help a lot with energy and stuff for me. good luck!!!!!!!!!! sometimes my levels are in the normal range which is weird and doctors think it's in my head. ah. i hope you find a competent hormonal doctor. wait...that's me. p.s. hang in there. it will pass

I have hypothyroidism too. I felt so much better after I got diagnosed. The problem is most doctors only judge by TSH. They used to judge it by symptoms in the 1970s. Going just by TSH is flawed and cruel. So many people get misdiagnosed. I think I was hypothyroid for about 15 years before I was diagnosed.

Hello,

I am so sorry that you lost your job. That is awful! I remember a time when I was let go from a job that I really loved. It was terrible and then on top of it my supervisor was a good friend of mine. We lost our friendship because of the whole situation. I thought I was never going to get over it. Fortunately, I had a wonderful husband and good and wise frirends who helped me get through it. I started out by going for walks in the mornings. I also had to choose what kind of attitude i was going to wake up in the mornings with ( is this going to be a good day or am I going to be cranky all day?) - I wanted to make the best of my days so I chose to start the days out on a positive note. Then I would get up and drink my glass of water and have some breakfast and then get showered and go for a walk. It is amazing what a little bit of sunshine will do to lift your spirit. :) Nature is so amazing! The birds chirping, the trees are so green, flowers are such brilliant colors, dogs and cats are so unique in their own ways. The bodies of water ( lakes, rivers, creeks, ponds...) have such beauty in their ripples and waves, flow of the currents. Have you ever wondered about the wind? It blows, it cannot be seen, but it has direction, strength and power. Just like you! You cannot be seen right now, but you are looking for the right direction. Once you find it, you are going to be strong and powerful in what you are going to do. You are going to be better than ever. Do not give up! :)

Try volunteering, they need tons of help at the food banks or school programs right now. Finding a job is tough right now but what made me feel better- one of the interviews I had they told me they were receiving 300 applications a day. I think they’re so overwhelmed by applications no one is getting hired
