So my 15 month old just tested positive yesterday for COVID and she never showed any symptoms and is still her happy self and I could have swore I had it and I tested negative twice!! Nobody has watched her but me and we haven’t been exposed to anyone that I know of that has had it and now I believe I have likely had a false negative and she could have got it from me because I felt horrible last week out of nowhere! So I got bloodwork the second time I got tested (antibodies test and still waiting on results to see if I did in fact have it) and the second time I went I decided to get her tested, which I’m so glad I did cause if I didn’t I would have never known then would have went out and exposed everyone else!!! It’s so scary cause here I am still with this awful cough and tested negative and my daughter had no symptoms and positive?? I can’t stop thinking about how she could have possibly got it and I’m pretty sure I had it and I know you can have a false negative! Does anyone know anyone in a similar situation?

Hi Glitter, I do not know anyone personally whose baby tested positive for Covid.

However, I do know that young children can present with more serious as well as

different symptoms than an adult. Even though your little one is not experiencing

any symptoms, please keep in touch with her pediatrician to be on the alert for

anything unusual such as a rash. I wish you both well. :) xx

I have a friend who had mild symptoms. Her test was negative but she was told to treat as a false negative due to the symptoms. She did have antibodies when she was tested. So her test was a false negative.

As agora1 has stated please keep a very close eye on your child.

Keep us posted if you can. This is a learning curve for all of us. I feel better having more information.

Take care of both of you

Thank you! I will keep y’all updated for sure. Today she is still feeling good and my antibodies test came back negative so I’m still wondering how she could have came in contact.

It is crazy how they show no symptoms! Something just told me to get her tested when I got retested and I am so glad I did for her sake and everyone’s! I would rather be proactive and everyone who has been around her has been tested and has tested negative so thank God!

So sorry to hear this! How scary! I've heard that this virus is very unique in that symptoms can vary from individual to individual. I've also heard that some people get it even though they don't experience any symptoms.

I wish your little girl a speedy recovery!
