My therapist went MIA

I was talking to her for about 2 months. I tried schedule something with her via email and she said she'd get back to me. After days of no update I forwarded my original email to her twice. It's been about 3 weeks now. I'm irked. Have no clue what happened. I want to know where she went. But I'm also turned off by her disappearing act.

Nadia, times are strange right now. Just "what if" she has the Covid19 virus or a loved

one who does.

Try giving her the benefit of the doubt right now. Even therapists need TLC during

this time :) xx

Perhaps you're right. I just wonder what the procedure is when they're unable to talk to patients. Like doesn't anyone contact people to inform??

NadiaB you would think someone would contact you. If she works for herself,

(as my therapist does) then she usually leaves a message of a number to reach

someone while she is gone.

Last year, this happened to me with a Podiatrist. I had an appointment set up

and when I got there everything was dark. I called from in front of the office on

my cell and it went into "this number is no longer in service". What??

I went home and called over and over for days on end. Didn't know if I should call

the police. No one ever called me and the number continued to be disconnected.

Finally, 6 months later, a letter arrived saying that an unexpected family issue came

up and Dr. so and so had to retire. (6 months later)

So Nadia, we never know.

Good Luck in finding another therapist as it is important to your mental health. :) xx

That’s frustrating when someone you count on for mental health guidance does this. Have you called the clinic that she works at? I’m sure she is working from home now, but maybe the clinic has some insight to what is happening.

I have not. I found her through an online therapy community. But idk this point I feel silly.

Don’t feel silly. If I or anyone else on here said there therapist stopped responding to them and they were upset over it, would you judge them? Most likely not. It’s a very validating feeling we mostly can all agree with.

Yeah, maybe there are things that may have happened during this time for her. But, a quick message would be nice to you. Right? I have an online therapist as well through an app. (I don’t know if yours is an app or not) If I were you, I would find the “contact us” link and email the app, and tell them what’s going on. I mean, especially if your paying for it. That is very unfair.

Hi Nadia,

Try to call her clinic, maybe she is working from home.

I hope you can get in touch with her and get the help you need.

Stay safe. God bless.

NadiaB then I say look for another therapist. that is not nice how they did that to you.

If they’re MIA so long I’d find one that prioritized your needs. Someone should be getting back to you. Things are weird out there they have had something come up. Either way if you need therapy I guess I’d just find another as you’re unhappy.

Not what you're looking for?
