There has already been many good things that have happened due to COVID. Scientists are saying there has a big reduction in pollution due to people staying home and not driving nearly as much, less litter, etc. Also, people have been going outside and exercising more. They can’t go to the gym, so they exercise outside. Getting more vitamin D by being outside has a positive effect on depression, energy levels and overall health. Families have spent a lot more time together due to school events, extracurricular activities, and other social events being cancelled. It’s usually hard to have lots of good quality family time with our usual busy schedules. Individuals and communities are joining together to help people in need whether it’s by making protective masks, delivering food, or just listening and helping someone feel less lonely. People are reaching out to check on family, friends, and even strangers. Since EVERYBODY is having tough times right now and not just certain people, people seem more willing to help others instead of thinking , “that’s not MY problem,” and then ignoring the issue. Also, people are learning better hygiene practices to prevent illness.

Sometimes it’s hard to see past all the doom and gloom to realize all the good things going on around us. It’s great that you want to help the NHS! They might have some ways to help on their website. Or I bet you could make something people will buy, like masks or hand sanitizer. then donate proceeds to them. You probably have lots of talents that can be helpful right now. Things will get better at some point. If you get anxious, try to take very deep, slow breaths (breathe in for 6 seconds, then breathe out for 6 seconds.) Do this for several minutes while trying to focus on something that makes you happy. This will change which neurotransmitters are being released in your brain, and you’ll feel better in no time! When I’m anxious I like to watch cute puppy videos on YouTube. It’s really hard to be anxious while watching cute puppy videos. This is because the cute puppy video draws all the attention you were giving to the anxiety and distracts you long enough to change your neurotransmitters. It.’s easy to get trapped in a negativity loop in your brain with all the bad news out there right now. Getting stuck in that loop will just make your anxiety and depression worse over time. Having a couple calming essential oils on hand can be helpful in addition to the above suggestions. These are one of the fastest and most effective non-medication methods of fighting anxiety and depression because of how quickly they send signals to your brain, and how strong those signals are once they get there. I even use Lavender in my diffuser when my dogs are anxious or just need to calm down. Good luck and let us know if you decide to take on any projects to help the NHS! Thank you!

unicorndiva210 I tend to think that a something good can become of this lockdown. we are being forced to take time out. to reflect on our days and what we do. some think that it is a time of restoring ones relationships in the home and abroad, to refocus on what is important. others want to see it as time to spiritually reflect. For all of us, we should see it as a time to be thankful over the little things and reflect on what is truly important. being alive and able to survive this. I believe this is a blessing in disguise for we can reach out to family and friends, learn something new, work a on hobby, do housework, fix things. however, I want to be honest, it has also been a rough time for everyone. thank God for forums like this one to talk to friends who care. hugs of encouragement.
