I woke up so depressed and thought what can I possibly do with all the defeating thoughts and feelings to pull away from the sadness mixed with anxiety.
*I thought we could make a list adding things that help us out of depression:*
-Don’t listen to the lies that pop in your mind telling you mean things like you are not good enough...don’t break your own heart; replace it with something positive💜
-Don’t believe you will always feel this sad, it comes in waves and after every difficulty comes ease... ❤️
-Do the things that will make your space happier... declutter, sweep, hang up art, place candles and plants around... ❤️
-Focus on your blessings if you can 💗
-Recall your strengths and accomplishments throughout your life ♥️
-get out and walk in nature if you can ❤️
-connect with someone 💜
-rest 💗
Sometimes I think we can’t do many of these things, but if we can somehow get to a point where we can try one thing it might help to pull a bit away from the depression
I’m still stuck in depression but I have written out at least things I can try so at least I’m trying...

I was breaking away from depression... now I have more problems piling up for today. Plus I’m sick. I’m so tired of trying so hard. I give up; I’ll be depressed I guess.
In the process of getting kids tablets connected to printer... stressful... I’m sick and stressed and beating myself up today and not sure how to stop.
Your tea sounds good. I have some passionflower, kava and lemon balm teas but right now im having coffee thinking it might lift me up I hope I don’t get more anxious as I rarely drink coffee.
Ugh! I hate technology and feel dumb for not being able to do what I feel others can do effortlessly. I think when my kid is involved and I’m really beat down by depression, it makes it worse bc you have no energy to fight. Even though you know you “should”.
Hang in there!!! You are not alone.
P.S. I had to give up caffeine some years back bc my body could no longer tolerate it. Threw my anxiety through the roof 😔 Sometimes I miss the pick me up.
I know exactly what you mean. You want to fight, but have no energy. And you feel guilty for both. Maybe a combination of surrender for a while....then fight for a while?
Thanks for your understanding. I have been fighting and surrendering back and forth today. I hate the unknown. I am trying to find present moments of peace and joy in all of this mess.
Stay strong. I know you can do it. I say let it run it's course. Remember you will feel better. That is what I keep telling myself when the anxiety and depression come back. This month so far I had only two days of anxiety and depression. I have really been praying and not allowing myself to accept defeat. I am believing I can and will feel better. That seemed to really help me. My prayers are with you sweet friend. Hugs!
Life sure is full of ups and downs. You are a star on the horizon, ready to rise. There was just one dark tree in the way. You will rise up. Take a deep breath, you are worth it. God don't make no junk!
Oh no this is so not acceptable... I'm so sorry you're feeling this way... as you know I have watched the ups & downs of what you're fighting... I really do feel for you...dang I need the magic wand..how much fun it would be to fly all around helping loved ones out....hang on tight and don't let go.... this will pass...we'll think positive for you.
You know I'm here for you and always will be... how I want to help you...is there anything I can do? I'm crying right along with you, how could I not be when I hear this?
Sis thanks for being here for me. ❤️ you’re always helpful because you’re presence is caring, warm, up lifting. I am hoping I will uplift you too at times. Are you feeling better since you were having trouble? You are amazing and deserve so much goodness and as the hawk guides us I wish good things coming to us soon.
It's sad you don't realize how wonderful, beautiful, fabulous and amazing you are.. one day that wish will come true for me.. I'm so so grateful for you and yes you always lift my spirits...you'll never be rid of me.. I love you too much for that...
Thanks for the positivity toward my words. I haven’t been doing much of the list though, I’m in too deep I think. I wish I could just be without all the intrusive thoughts ruining my life. I don’t know what is real and what are lies of depression and anxiety. It’s like I cant see straight and need wisdom to figure out what is true, what I can change, how, and what I need to realize are not true in my beliefs.
I understand. Sometimes we just press on to the best of our ability. I have to be super gentle and self compassionate when my depression or anxiety attacks. Easier said than done. Know the depression is lying to you. I usually reach out to friends/family and speak my truth. I love the serenity prayer and sometimes just recite that. I also say to myself “You’re doing a really great job”
Your words help me. I will try suggestions. I will try being gentle as much as I can. I will keep in mind depression is lying. I just told my husband how I am and he promised to help clean when he gets home which will lighten and brighten me. I will tell myself I am amazing and work on believing it. ❤️
Maybe a short gratitude list will help. I don’t have a partner anymore. No pets, kid in college so I’m alone fighting thru this depression. It was 35 years ago I experienced a depression this bad. You’re way ahead of the game with support.
Look at you speaking your truth and asking for help. It is brave and courageous to do both. Especially when you’re feeling so low. I don’t think depression has ever told me one true thing. Ever.
Thanks but I don’t feel brave or courageous I feel weak and afraid. I feel like I’m in a pit and am being tortured and I can’t see out to the top where the sun and flowers are... what did I do to deserve it maybe I need to prepare for the next life and this is a lesson in the journey.
This is so encouraging Starrlight. I know sharing on this group, reaching out to others who understand the struggles with depression and anxiety really help me during my depressive episodes. You are an encouragement to me that you share ways to cope during those tough days. Continue to be praying for you. And remember depression is not who you are but what you go through. Hugs
True it’s not who we are but what we use our strength against to endure throughout. Some days we feel so weak from it. You encourage me too to keep grabbing onto hope. How are you today?
Praise God I only had two bad days 🤗this month during my cycle. I continue to pray for healing and read the Bible. I also take time in my day to do things that I enjoy and let them in my routine even on my bad days. So thankful that we are here to support each other.
That’s good. Yes im grateful for this site too. And I’ve been praying more lately.
Great pointers to help people with depression. I find naughty comfort food helps . Chocolate, and green tea. Both contain caffeine which can give a lift. I don't drink alcohol as
it can thin the blood and burn a hole in your stomach. If I do I eat when I have a celebratory
glass. Blaming everyone else and swearing is a great way of releasing negative thoughts out of earshot of people!
Yep ..we are too inhibited we aren't allowed to let go. If we do we will be in a different place either a police cell or a mental health unit..I do think there is something in the
menopause mood swing. Women suffer in silence not realising their mood cycles are cyclical mid month and before a period. How do women have all this suffering with no hormone tests available just a ticket for mental health drugs..though I know the trauma in peoples lives are a major cause of some mental health issues. Think women need a multi team approach.
Yes it would be helpful My daughter is going through it, I had an early menopause in my thirties. I had to have an op. I had post operative depression with thyroid disorder but no one understood in the area I lived in it was the menopause. You are right to go to a gynaecologist and get tests to know how far you are into the menopause. Friends have been on progesterone hormone and after a few weeks feel much better. Its knowing if you are oestrogen or progesterone dominant but other symptoms can cause heavy periods and fibroids. We women are half the population but are not treated as equals with health care for women! Must get back to my swearing and dusting..no depression with mood swings but do get anxious with multi problems with kids and family..am sure you may find advice and treatment will help.
There are some good articles about it, how HRT can help.
If you are round and over weight you are moer likely to be oestrogen dominant,- if you are thinner, you might be more progesterone dominant. We have gone backwards in this country over HRT as men are in charge and say it is expensive
but have done no research into the hormone therapy levels..they are men and are not affected. Ha!
Your female doctor should be able to advise you. There are natural ways to help using phystroestrogen, (soy)which is plant based, to increase oestrogen levels, or special creams you can use to enhance progesterone such as Wellsprings advertised. Know people who have benefited from progesterone creams. on line. You ar still young,. My daughter has had it for over seven years now and she is 50 but has not recognised it.
Foods that encourage progesterone are 1 zinc , 2 vitamin B6, Estrogen dominance can lead to vitamin B6 depletion as it is involved in oestrogen . 3 vitamin C.
L-Arginine and Vitamin E were found to improve progesterone levels in 67 percent of Japanese women in a survey. In the Journal of Ovarian research showed that women taking vitamin E had improved luteal phase progesterone levels. 71 percent
of those taking l arginine showed an improvement.
Vitamin E can be readily found in coconut oil, which is made from the kernel not the flesh. Other sources are sunflower seeds, almonds hazelnuts and peanut butter. You can find it in
sunflower margarine. Fermented soy helps the progesterone levels increase during menopause and post menopause. Non fermented soy in soy beans, edame beans, can help progesterone levels as can water melon. Sweet potato is another food recommended.
vegetable oils rape seed oil canola with high levels of saturated fats and fatty acids, and fatty acids and having too much of these Fatty acids can throw off your natural hormones.
Dairy- non organic meats- gluten products- wheat, rye, barley and alcohol are major disruptors of hormones if you have too much.
I was eating three pounds of cheese a week at one stage but have cut it down to about an ounce a day.
alcohol . Recommendations are to eat red grapes, broccoli
sprouts brassica vegetables increase omega 3 fatty acids rosemary green tea and filtered water.
I didn’t see this until now. Thank you so much for your kind words, amazing you! I’m in such a bad lace but I managed to go on the trampoline and picnic with my kids. It helped but I’m still way down . How are you doing?
