Vietnam nurses and veterans

All the veterans were screwed by the system and a lack of leadership like blaming the football players that accomplished the game despite moronic leadership and objectives of not playing to win

The vietnam nurses were caught up in all that and suffered horrendous ptsd

Therefore our foundation awards all the Vietnam nurses

Our Medal of Honor

The national nursing memorial was built in 2016 in a grove of beautiful cedars

When the troops and pow cane home nurse and stewardesses put in their best uniforms and gallons of perfume in a silent tribute to welcome people home

Welcome home all veterans and everyone

In one hoslital I was in a nurse went behind the scenes to comfort a terrified young woman whose doctor was hard on her I know as I witnessed it myself

No one in the system care

She is awarded our

Distinguished service cross for nursing

Dr nair and dr li saved my best friend at tinley Park and got me started painting

He was a good man who made a mistake they got his job back

Hi Brig57, your post is so touching. I was able to experience first hand

with the bravery and fortitude of our veterans..... I volunteered for several

years at Hines Veteran's hospital in Chicago. I was in awe with the talent

of some of these men. I worked on the Paraplegic Ward and actually purchased

one of the "mouth drawing" paintings.

I thank you for your service and your kind heart to others. xx

The guys were all down hearted Then one man in a wheelchair recognized her and he started shouting and banding his chair

I do know what you are talking about Brig...I saw everything from

a quadriplegic to a paraplegic to a veteran with half a body.

I feel that their smiles gave me happiness as well. Your messages

have been stirring up those unbelievable feelings that I experienced.

I didn't know what it would be like walking onto that ward. From the

first moment I got off the elevator, a paraplegic lying on his gurney

held the elevator door open for me with his cane and a warm big smile.

I knew I was in the right place, at the right time. I was meant to do this.,

Thank you fragile. My life has been quite a journey up til now.

Still more to do. Too many people hurting emotionally. This forum

gives me the vehicle I need to reach out and help others like us.

The only thing I regret is my family never recognizing

my passion. My mother was a successful secretary in

her career and just couldn't phantom why I wanted to

be in medicine. I followed my heart and I couldn't ask

for more. Thanks for your support, it means a lot xx

As I was saying....it takes a rare soul who can take the daily experience of dealing with pain and suffering, and be able to do the job without either succumbing to the pressure and stress on the bad days, and be in the job for the good days when they make a difference in somebody’s life, and it's usually on the worse day of their life when they need medical help. My grandmother and sister and many, many friends are nurses, respiratory, EMT, etc.....so I know the stories. I was married to a respiratory therapist for 15years. To be able to do the job you have to disassociate yourself to a certain degree from their pain, but there are always those one or two that stick with you.

Thank you Brig.... if anyone has not seen any documentary's on the women who also served in Vietnam... they really should. There was a show called China Beach which I loved, that was basically a tribute to these women and showed only a fraction of what really happened, but I felt it was good in the respect that it brought attention at least to a very little known heroism at that time.
