Hi all

Does anyone here get pvcs also known as heart palpitations. I’ve dealt with them on and off for over 10 years. This time around they’ve seem to want to stay. They started back up around late March and have gotten worse over the year. Since March I’ve had multiple ekgs, blood tests, chest X-rays, echocardiogram and 2 holter monitors one I currently have on. And all have basically came back “normal” aside of pvc/pac and a run of SVT that was only 6 seconds. My drs have told me to work on my anxiety and 3 different cardio have as well. I find it really hard to believe that these skips/flutters and thuds are from anxiety. Reason being Is they happen while I’m sitting or laying down relaxing. And also I can run up a stair and have them, picking something up, bending over, raking a deep breath, stretching or even doing like activity brings them on, like how can that be anxiety if I’m physically bringing them on?

Thank you

Keep reducing stress and take anti anxiety meds. I was getting them nightly. Klonapin made a difference, but changing my lifestyle really cut back on the panic attack palpitations. I had all the medical testing. My heart is strong. My mental hygiene was not. Try meditation. It may work for you. Life is trial and error. Good luck to you.

Hi Ceelos81,

I empathize with your plight ...I too suffer from PVCs and I find they happen at all sorts of different times...when im anxious, at rest, when I'm exercising or bending over (wtf is that??) And I get frustrated that the docs always say that everything is normal and to just reduce your anxiety. Yes, I have suffered from anxiety for many years but I'm not always having anxiety when I get the pvcs. The anxiety for years itself can cause these arrhythmias is what I've come to understand. There are some lifestyle things that I find helpful....taking magnesium supplements made a huge difference. Theres a lot of reputable research on the link between heart rhythm and magnesium. Potassium also works in tandem with mag but be careful with supplements bc potassium is one of the rare vitamins that can be dangerous if taken in excess. Best to just add a banana to your diet every day. I also gave up coffee....not sure yet if this had made a difference but it's still something i feel like i control so it helps in that way.

Try regular, soothing exercise like yoga as opposed to running or things that get your adrenaline up and then down. I've also been prescribed propanalol (beta blocker, reduces adrenal response) and I take it before really anxiety-inducing situations.

I hope this helps. The best advice I have is to know that many people suffer from this affliction, it's common enough that doctors are not concerned about your immediate health and that there are some lifestyle changes you can take to feel a bit more in control..

Hang in there😊

Hi Ceelos,

My problems are exactly the same. I have pvcs sitting down, resting, deep breathing and doing exercise. It has helped me reduce alcohol, clean diet, and managing stress. I do get you that its very tough when Drs tell you it nothing, when you feel like your heart is behaving like that. keep us updates and you are not alone.
