I really suffer from anxiety, and on Wednesday morning I accidentally ate bacon that had a use by date of 20 days before. Had 2 rashers without realising, the pack was unopened so I’m hoping it was okay! I am so scared that I’m going to have terrible food poisoning. It has been over 48 hours but when will I definitely know that I’m in the clear and will be okay?
Please respond guys, am very worried right now!

No just me I’m afraid. Didn’t realise until the next day that it was ages out of date but pack was unopened. Have spoken to my parents and they seem to think I’ll be fine as it should’ve happened by now but I’m still worried
If the bacon is smoked it has a higher resistance to going off. If it is not cured then you could take a teaspoon of cider vinegar in a tall glass of water. It is effective against e coli bacteria staphylocus aureus and candida albicans. It dampens down the bacteria in protein . I make salad dressing with olive oil and honey. Olive oil is known to help bacteria such as heli bacter stomach bacteria and coconut oil can help other bacteria. Giving olive oil is recommended as is virgin coconut oil. I just use the supermarket coconut oil and have better resistance to infection and viruses. About a quarter of teaspoon bicarbonate of soda baking powder in a glass of water can help prevent bacteria in the gut regulating the pH balance of the body. Coconut contains a monolaurin which can kill harmful micro organisms in the gut. Lauric acid is also present which kills off bacteria and viruses.
There are tablets enterovioform for gastroenteritis from the chemist taken as a preventative .If in doubt ask chemist.
It is almost insulting what low tolerance you think our bodies have. You can literally drink raw sewege and will probably be super fine.
If you fear stomach aches, drink a nice cup of Smecta or any other clay-based stomach functions enhancing bewrege (100% over the counter meds. should be cheap too) and watch some Witcher on netflix.
well, here's my "doctor's" advice - eat more of that bacon and let it know whos boss
If it was twenty hours ago you need to just forget about it you are fine.
If food is dated and sealed that does not mean you cannot eat the product. Air has not invaded the food so it will remain ok for quite a long time.
We are Pensioners so we are always buying dated food from the Supermarket. However when we open the seal we smell the product and if it smells of the product you can eat it.
If it is bad you will smell mold or if the product is bad. There is no problem purchasing food that has a sell by our use by date as long as it smells fresh and feels ok. You can purchase fruit to ripen at home, sometimes the fruit has reached its date, again that does not mean it is bad the situation is the same as meat. If bread has gone dry, put slices in the oven etc with a bowel of water, let the water heat, the steam will soften the bread, however you can only do that once. On boats they used to have a bread cupboard when they needed bread they would soften the same way. You can of course toast bread when it starts to become stale
Personally Constipation is not related this far on.
When I was travelling we did get some upset tummies, they were mostly very loose bowels, that would clear as the bowel clears. If you ever have problems, loose stools you can take various medications sold at chemists or you can make up a dehydration fluid of Boiled water cooled, mix a spoonful of sugar and a teaspoon of salt together
That will rehydrate you after the skits.
It sounds fine, stop worrying, constipation, prunes are good as are figs.
Try allowing your body to correct itself, it will recover in a few days
Try eating your proper levels of vegetables and fruit, five units a day, that should help to keep your regular. They should be a regular part of your diet
