Side effects of Amitriptyline, Sertaline or Bupropion

I have been on all 3 of these for the past month. Amitriptyline is the newest addition to help me sleep. I have been having increasingly worse dreams and are now causing me to physically act out my dreams and waking me up every couple hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Any recommendations? Thank you!

I've been on sertraline and bupropion separately and never had anything like that happen

I have been on sertaline/Zoloft 25mg for about four months now and I still feel nausea, ringing in my ears, brain zaps, internal shaking, and huge bouts of anger. I scared myself the other day when I started throwing all my expensive porcelain dishes down on the ceramic tile floor after an argument with my opinionated, control freak of a partner. I broke them all, about 24 pieces with such detachment and without screaming or yelling.I was calm, it felt like I was witnessing someone else vomiting this violent act. Afterwards, I felt such relief, like a huge weight lifted off my back...so weird. My doctor asked me to double the daily dosage of sertaline 50mg in the morning and 50mg in the evening...I’m so scared because what I experienced are symptoms of SSRI Withdrawals..

50 mg of sertraline is considered a small dose. Thats what I currently take. Once we bumped it up to 100 mg and I did experience some intermittent nausea for a couple weeks. It is odd that you are still having nausea after 4 mo. It may or may not be the sertraline.

I've taken all these at once and yes I've certainly had vivid dreams and nightmares. My research informs me that positive dreams are more prominent in people taking tricylics (e.g. amitripytaline) and MAOIs (e.g. Nardil). SSRIs (e.g. Celeza, Lexapro, Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft) and SNRIs (e.g. Cymbalta, Effexor and Pristiq) are reported to produce more nightmares and vivid dreams. I would probably talk to your prescriber about these dreams if they are interrupting your sleep on a regular basis. Maybe increasing tricylics and MAOIs and decreasing SSRIs and SNRIs would help my friend.

I have been on bupropion in the past. It can be somewhat of a stimulant. If you take it twice a day, take second dose late afternoon so it wont be as likely to interrupt your sleep. I liked it as I felt more energetic when I took it.

I have been on Zoloft 100mg and Buprapion 150mg for more than 6 years. I take both of them during breakfast. So they don't cause sleeping issues.

However when I am stressed or depressed, I take over the counter sleeping aid tablets once a while.

I was on sertraline for years. I never had that side effect. I use Zoloft/Ambien for sleep. No dreams that I recall. Sleep study showed I do hit all the phases, though.
