Bupropion

It seems Bupropion XL's has been discontinued in the States, and here in Canada, all Bupropion or Wellbutrin ins unavailable from the manufacturer - September 2024. The pharmacist replaced it with Bupropion SR. My script was for Bupropion 300 XL once a day.

The RLS UK website lists Trazodone and Bupropion as being safe for RLS but the BNF doesn’t list Bupropion for depression and Trazodone is not going to be great with Pregabalin and Dihydrocodeine due to the sedative affects. Are there any others that might be ok that anyone knows of?

About a week ago, for an unrelated ailment, I was proscribed Bupropion, which is an anti-depressent and aid for seizures. What I found out and experienced is this: It does not exacerbate RLS and is a good alternative to many anti-depressants. I've been on it a week now.

I'm hoping that increasing dopamine as well as norepinephrine will help me more. ~~~~~ Today is my second day on bupropion (generic Wellbutrin). So far, my mind seems about as clear as it does on atomoxetine (generic Strattera).

I am currently taking Bupropion daily, but I still deal with frequent thoughts of uselessness and fear of/anxiety about the future once my boys move on into the world and their own lives. At one point, I had a therapist that I really connected with and benefitted from who has now retired.

He actually suggested Bupropion ! I have decided I do not want to take opioids at this time. I just cannot believe it. I think he must be the only Doctor at Kaiser who has studied restless legs, I am not sure why there is such a lack of education.

The low dose of bupropion is giving me a bit of enegy which has helped my exhuastion in the latter hours of the day. But as for my over-active mind and my impulses to stay on the go, they are still a problem.

Anyone have experience with this drug? How much time does it need to work. Also it seems to make me super hungry.

My neurologist wrote to my GP requesting that I be prescribed Targinact 10mg at night and 5mg mornings increasing if necessary by 5mg increments to maximum of 20mg twice a day, also changing the Venlafaxine I take to either Bupropion or Tazadone. Also to refer me to him on NHS.

My psychiatrist suggested I switch antidepressants to fluoxetine (Prozac), but I have been taking Bupropion for 20 years and I’m more terrified of having a bad reaction or withdrawal than I am of the anxiety. Last thing I need right now is a psychiatric emergency on top of this open wound.

For Bupropion this study isn't as large but it does show it improves RLS. Https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21737767/ It would help if there was an explanation for each as to why it was conditional. An example is conditional against valerian when this study shows it improves RLS.
