I have been on 60 mg. of Cymbalta for a few months now, and just recently have been unable to sleep. has anyone else experienced this kind of side effect? If so how long do I let it ride out before talking to the Dr. about changing medication?

Cymbalta Side Effects?
I am on 90mg Cymbalta but haven't experienced the symptoms you're having. I wonder, are you also diagnosed with Anxiety? If yes, maybe you need something to help you get to sleep and stay asleep. I am on Trazodone for that. I also have an MP3 player I can plug in my ears at night and listen to calming music. Just a thought. I would talk to your doc about your sleep problems my friend.
Thank you so much!! Yes i have pretty sucky anxiety, and i truely appreciate the advice. trying to wrangle the anxiety, and being able to judge my own progress, or progressive needs is...its something!
I have taken Cymbalta before and had decent results. It did make me gain weight though so after awhile I decided to taper down and quit. About a month it took. A few side effects, nothing bad, just annoying. While I did take it I did not notice any change in sleep patterns though I also have anxiety and take Xanax as well before bed. And muscle relaxer Tizanidine and amitryptiline. Top it all off with a bowl of medical marijuana and it's lights out for me. That will last about 3-4 hrs. after which I awake, regardless of the time on the clock, and pretend to get on with whatever I was doing prior to going to bed. I knew I wasn't sleeping well so I got a Fitbit to prove it. Turns out I was right and Fitbit will not accept my reasoning to refund me so I can return the device.
Thank you for your reply. I have been steadily gaining a little more weight, always, was that your experience? I am wondering if cymbalta has somehow increased my sensitivity to pain? The sites say it treats nerve pain...maybe im just wrong?
Beware of Cymbalta. Some people, like myself, have a very hard time getting off of it. I had side effects on it, and went through hell getting off it. It took two years. Read up on it if you decide to stop. Theres only one way to taper off.
Wow two years? And bad side effects as well? I consider myself lucky. I was on it for about a year and a half but the weight gain was too much. It took me about a month or so to taper off and stop. Had a few side effects, just annoying nothing serious. Brain zaps were there. Actually was kinda interesting. Though at the time I was still on Xanax and amitryptiline. Maybe that softened the blow? Sorry to hear about your experience.
Thanks! Yes, you were lucky. I think the other meds you were on helped you out. I ended up in the hospital because I had such major anxiety, major nausea with a lack of appetite, and severe insomnia.
Thanks. I did have to take Mertazapine to sleep and Zoloft to help with the anxiety. Im off the Mertazapine now and can still only sleep 5 hours, but thats better than the 2 hours that I was sleeping.
I am taking cymbalta. I have no problem sleeping. My only concern is the weight gain.
Oh, sorry to hear that
Yes I asked to be taken off this, replaced it with Remeron and Wellbutrin 300 xr
