I take amitriptyline for my chronic migraines and unfortunately haven’t found any medication that works as effectively as this so I can’t stop taking it and have exhausted all other options of medication to take at the moment so I’m back on this. On top of the horrible side effects it makes me feel zombie like and gives me extreme anxiety and depression on top of my already bad mental health state. I feel so suicidal and I feel as though this medication is slowly killing and will end up killing me. I don’t know why I’m writing this anymore I have no hope I just want my pain to end.

Amitriptyline & suicidal thoughts
I wonder if you could look at some type of complementary health support as well as medication? It sounds like you need more self care as well as meds. Good diet, lots of fresh food shared with others if you can, fresh air, doing something that might give you pleasure. I know these things sound obvious but often we just don't do them and focus on how bad we feel. I know from experience that it takes effort, time and planning to look after our self and believe we can feel better. Some days will be more challenging but is today a day you could go for a walk, make something good to eat, share time with someone you care about? You are not your health condition , you are so much more 💓💓
If a Med for migraine is causing you suicidal issues why would a Dr keep you on that?
I'm just curious?
Oh my I can relate my old doc retired and the new one put me on it....for 3 months I was out of my mind..slowly tapered it off and found a new doc....
I've heard botox helps migraines....also feverfew is suppose to help them...
I really wish you all the best....

Yes Botox is now used for migraines if all other category of drugs fail. I was on amytriptaline for a few months also. I was still getting migraines. So, I saw no point in medicating myself daily for something that's didn't work.
Migraines are very debilitating
My oldest son gets them...just awful to have to go through...I really feel for you...are you ready...just be stress free, hahaha....now we need the answer to that one!

I didn't want to say this up front, but my mom had severe migraines that amitriptyline really helped her with. I take it for sleep and have no problems with it. Unfortunately my mom's headaches were caused by an aneurysm in the brain. She survived the surgery but not the recovery.
I'm sorry about your moms passing. I had a brother who died from aneurysm. He never made it to surgery. Just collapsed and that was it.
I totally agree it works for some people. I also am very firm that people know what they are medicating. I don't believe in a Dr that writes things off as anxiety without some type of workup , or treating a headache without a workup.
I'm glad the med works for you. It works for many. It just didn't work for me.
