So I am one of those lucky people that tend to get all the adverse affects of SSRIs and SRNIs.
My general doctor put me on a medication that treats chronic pain nerve pain which I have and it all girl tends to help some with anxiety.
I tend to be a little fearful of taking these meds because of the side effects issues with me.
I read the adverse side effects profile of this drug and now I’m terrified to take it but at the same time I also know I definitely need something to help with my anxiety.
I am single and my roommate is gone 75% of the time so there’s nobody here should I have an adverse reaction.
Does anyone else deal with this or those kind of fears- I mean they’re kind of valid in a sense so it’s hard to work through it.
Unfortunately, where I live, there aren’t a lot of resources for this situation and there’s a shortage of mental health in patient care centers.

Anxiety about anxiety medications is just another symptom of anxiety.
Those lists of side effects are there just to cover the med makers legally. The meds are thoroughly tested before being licenced: you do not need someone present when you take these meds 'just in case'.
Of course, if you take the med convinced that it is going to have bad side effects, guess what. You guessed right, you will most likely feel/imagine the side effects. Of course, you were expecting them too, your anxious mind is only too willing to oblige.
Do not deny yourself the respite that meds can bring. But in the meanwhile prepare your plan to live anxiety free without meds eventually.
What's the medication? Gabapentin, tiagabine (Gabatril)? You don't have to say. Many medications help physical pain and mood disorders. Even the SSRIs/SNRIs.
I don't really know what would help. But one idea came to mind. Perhaps if go back and look at what you have tried already and check out their side-effect profiles, you might realise that the pharmaceutical companies HAVE to mention all possible side effects no matter how unlikely they are to appear, even those that happen with similar meds and not the one you are taking (ie other pain/anxiety medications). This is without a doubt to save their own backsides. Can't sue them if they've already warned you about it.
I am in exactly the same position as you. I get bad side effects from antidepressants and also suffer with chronic pelvic nerve pain. I was on pregabalim but found the side effects bad and now the doctor has recommended that I take amitriptyline but am afraid to take it but need something for the pain, so I will have to try it at some point. What is the one you have been prescribed?
Yes, this happened to me this weekend. I was suppose to start talking Lexapro Saturday. I stayed up all night reading post after post of how people were effected by taking it. So my anxiety took over and I didnt take it. However, I know deep down I do need some meds and trying them will not hurt me. My friend suggested that I journal when my anxiety effects me so when I start the meds I can tell if its woking. Also, I can share with my doctor when it happens. You are not alone.
