I have been suffering with anxiety and depression as long as I can remember. It has been a
struggle but I cope by exercising, volunteering and my faith in the Lord has helped tremendously. However, I realize that I have a mental disorder or illness and it is getting worse now that I am getting older. I was prescribed Lexapro 5 mg and it made me feel so weird , I took it for two weeks and stopped. Now I don’t know what to do, the doctor said he would give me another medication to try but recommended it is essential to receive therapy as well. I can’t seem to find any therapist in my insurance available and they charge $100 plus an hour . I have a friend who started taking Prozac and she is feeling much better. Anyone on Prozac? Please let me know what have you experienced , just want to have a better quality of life.

Agora1 Thank you for your response. It is definitely the negative thoughts that pop up in my mind, I am experiencing a lot of guilt and regrets from the past. I need to change that and it is very difficult, trying to find a therapist that can help me.
I’ve been taking Prozac for awhile and it has helped my depression. I stopped taking it during a recent vacation and have begun to notice symptoms again so have started taking it again. I check in with the psychiatrist every 3 months. I agree that it would be helpful to also talk to a therapist- Good luck, hope you feel better.
I took 40mg of Prozac this morning. I also took 300mg of bupripion. I may suggest to my psychiatrist that I got back up to 60mg of Prozac. I took 20mg of Prozac for a while and noticed no change. .I have a tendency to overthink things and Prozac seems to dull everything including pleasure and pain. Medical professionals understandably want to figure out the minimum effective dose for you to take of a single medicine, when in reality taking two or three medicines together may be much more effective, but determing what effective is, is very tough.
