has anyone had a side effect of shaking hands while on prozac? I brought it up to the dr and was told its a side effect from the medication. Its to the point my hands shake while eating. Still working on trying to figure out if its from the prozac or my diabetes.

Hi, I was on Prozac before I had to change to another med. I think it might be diabetes, my hands do that and it is from drop in sugar
thank you Lulu. the prescribing dr did some kind of test in the office and knew it was not neuropathy in the hands. Just concerning because i never had this before
Hi, I struggled with a lot with you issues when I was younger and I hope my experiences might help a little. Please never say your sorry for the length of your post, we girls like to talk. I know how it feels to have people want to fix my problems and I learned I am equally guilty in trying to fix others. I found the worst people to talk with is someone in your family, no only do they have a habit of wanting to help you, if they figure out they cannot fix you your talking about the issues makes them run for the hills. I wish you could find a good therapist. When you can connect with that person it can change your world.
Hi hlangdon,
It's possible it's a side effect. Try seeing if you experience it, even when your blood sugar is stable. If so, it could most likely be the meds.
Some side effects don't manifest until you've reached a therapeutic dose of a medication. It all depends on how the medication reacts with your body chemistry. For me, I had numerous annoying side effects on Prozac (dry mouth, vivid dreams, increased sweating, increased stomach acid production, and myoclonic jerks). You'll need to weigh the side effects against the intended effects. If you're feeling better (if you're experiencing relief from your symptoms that this medication was supposed to help), and can live with shaky hands, then I would say to stay on it. If you're experiencing other side effects that you find intrusive and unmanageable on Prozac, I'd talk to your doctor about trying a different medication, especially if you're not experiencing any relief from your symptoms.
I hope this helps. Best of luck,
EdanaBrietta
Prozac is an older drug maybe there is a good substitute for you
I may ask my dr about something else
yeah wasnt working out for me do recommend to speak to them about it
Keep a diary for at least a week, 2 would be better. Time how long from the time you take the Prozac to when the shaky hands start. Test you blood. Put down the time of day and what you were doing when all this began. I would then take it to your doctor. Let him/her see what goes on.
Then take it to your favorite pharmacist and ask for their opinion. Remember.... Doctors studied the human body and what effects they might have on the human body. Pharmacists studied medications, their chemical make up... On and on. The pharmacist can give better more accurate and up to date info on a medication. The pharmacist can also check the Prozac against any other medications you may be taking and make sure there is not a reaction between the prozac and any other meds.
Good luck. Mistykitten
Hi, I have taken Prozac before. I am type 1 diabetic for 43years. The Prozac helped for about two years, then a different doctor suggested I switch to another medication.
I did switch to Veneflaxin generic for Effexor.
I took Prozac and i started shaking too It goes away after a while though. Just be patient if it continues you might wanna talk to your doctor how long has the shaking been going on ?
